Okay, voices, in my head. That's cool. Little weird though. Hello, confused voices.

I'm a Silirw Cyral! Can you see?

Is that good? I don't know anything about the culture of... rock candy thermal detonator bugs.
Give me something to call you by, seriously.

Hmm, if that was your name then... This world is Silirw Cyral, you're male, and ... well, it gives us an age of 90 converted to our timescale, but I'm not sure what that means as far as your lifespan is concerned.

Interesting. It seems we can gather data on our own.

I have significant others and siblings of the opposite gender, and if I wear my sash the other way I'd look more feminine. I don't know what a bunny girl is.

Actually I wouldn't have trouble ah, wooing, whoever I liked. Sorry you can't help there.

I'd love to! The government put mandatory vacations in place so we don't work ourselves into being unhealthy, and that's why I'm sitting here.
You were in my mail, in a... box... which seems to have disappeared. That's unusual.

Your data collection might need work. I am male, but like I said I am a Silirw Cyral. This world is Uis. I'm around 1/5 of our usual maximum age. Hooray for genetic assistance!

How's that? Not a lot to look at, but that's how it goes.

It's nothing like that! Dessen is the one with mind-control powers. It's like a hyperdimensional thing. We're real tight, got this whole symbiotic relationship thing going on. I'd take you to it, but it's more the type to find, not be found.
Nah, we Silirw just don't have trouble finding mates. We can ask anyone of our species and as long as they don't have something better to do, they'll accept. We don't really have lifelong partners like some cultures on other planets. Some people are also into the whole interspecies romance scene but that's not my thing.

Monsters? No. We usually use pockets for nonliving things.

I'm sure there are some nuances with how things translate to whatever, uh, format you understand me in... I'm using a suffix that says that the person is an hermaphrodite.

Good, you noticed! We can do that. The unaltered colour is [[gunmetal grey (sort of turquoisey)]] and if we die we start turning grey. The Enials can do it too but their unaltered colour is [[off-white (very light purple)]].

Doorbell? what?

Hey cool, sie is home!

"Hey Narus! Are you well?"
"I am! Are you well?"
"Yes indeed. What brings you here?"
"What is it? Oh hey, did you come here to ask ME that?" Sie's told me sie can't read minds, and it's just the innate empathic sense. Must just be good at figuring things out.

We don't have telepaths. Enials like me do have a sense for the current feelings of nearby Cyrals and Enials. It doesn't work with many other species. Dessen is a telepathic creature from another space. It doesn't use words. We simply perceive what it wants to convey. With you, I can hear synthesised voices.

Narus has 3 brains. One is for motion, one is for sensory input, and one is for cognition/memory.
Don't be so impatient. You're on the cross-section scanner now.

"Ok, I'm pretty confident it's hyperdimensional, the way the inside keeps shifting. Since we can carry it, It must have some mechanism to offset the extra mass... I don't know what it's made of. Looks like mundane materials. I think it's built to change shape. I'd like to know where it came from."

Narus speaks. "It was in my mail in a box that disappeared."

"That sounds worrisome."

Whoah. What was that? Did he feel it? I think so. I'll ask.
"Did you feel the magnetism shift just now?"

"A little bit, I think."

Hmm... maybe there will be a broadcast about what that was, or maybe it was nothing...

Can you still understand me, even if I'm not touching you?

I am an individual, I don't know what universe or tech level we are compared to you, but I am among a race known as 'human'.

We are a bipedal upright race, horizontally symmetrical, and have... really no special abilities or powers other than the ability to grasp objects and presumably think. I guess that's enough to get ahead in our world.

The device is called a Scanning Plate, it is a cross-section delimiter, an additional designation of '3d' which I can imagine means it's a 3-dimensional object... and it weighs about 2 kilograms. That's all we get.

There seems to be some kind of inner program that tells us things sometimes. Like, there was a visual error earlier, and it gives us additional language translation when something doesn't quite match with words we have available. Maybe it's the program inside the device?

If you don't want us to grab information from stuff without permission, I guess that's okay. We're just curious... or that's what usually the case anyway. You can never tell for sure what with all the voices involved here.

"If I'm right, this will be able to let them get information but not interact with anything. Their device seems to have some program that translates things for them. I think it will be able to interpret."

We don't have "special powers" either. I guess whatever senses and things we're given are normal to us, so maybe you have some sort of ability we would find amazing.
Assuming you are actually separate entities somewhere. I'm not sure what to think.

It's less of a device and more of just a plate, really. But you may be able to look up that stuff soon...

One of the earlest problems encountered in our history was how to count. It may seem simple, but remember that there are more ways to count than we can

count. At the earliest times, the Enials counted on their fingers. When it came time for the Cyrals, there was a problem- a different number of fingers on

each hand! The common ancestor, we now know, had 2 digits to its 6 limbs. In the precursor-Cyrals, the middle limb split along the middle, joining with the

two beside it. ...

The bone structure is one of the most differing parts of Cyral and Enial anatomies. Cyral bones are more numberous, less flexible, and plate-based. Enial

bones are fewer, quite flexible, and more rounded. The Enials, of course, also have wings, which require additional structures near the base of the skull to

attach. In both, the brains are encased with several openings for blood flow and transmission of information. The heart is also encased similarly. The

gonads, which are held internally, have protective bones which prevent entry of foreign objects from certain angles. ...

Presently we know alien life forms exist. Probably no one is alive today who was alive before we knew this; it's become a fact of life. Thanks to the Cramakc, our first contact, we are part of an enormous intergalactic community! Our naturally helpful tendencies left us well-equipped to work things out between their representatives and ours. It wasn't all smooth going, though...

When the Cramakc came in their vessels, no one knew what to expect. They had tried to send transmissions, but something blocked them. Surveillance equipment

saw them coming and we prepared for the worst, while hoping for the best. The government had already picked its finest minds in the fields of theoretical

Hyperdimensional matter. How do you discover it? From the looks of things, the best answer seems to be that you don't, unless it comes to you. And you had better be careful if it does. Many of the predictions came true: it can have effectively infinite mass, for example. Lucky for us, the first matter of this sort had finite mass, was in space, and had a seeming resistance to spassitudinal motion. It was the remnants of a vessel, most likely from our own universe. ...

Oh hey, Basse is here on my left and I didn't notice him. He's my housemate. "Are you well, Basse?" This question doesn't seem completely appropriate because, as usual, he doesn't seem to be well. He barely lifts his head off the counter.

"Narus! I'm, well enough. Are you well?" He's looking and sounding pretty worn-out. I wonder what drugs he's been on now.

"That was a... pretty nasty disturbannce just there."
"It was horrible. Do you know anything about them? I think I felt something similar earlier today, too."

It appears to be a plural scanner, which scans an area and counts the number of individual objects there. Works best with mostly one kind of object.

It's like a big monocular with reality augmenting features. There are no weapons here.
What's an... abacus? Where are you looking?

Mmm, ok. I'll start with the green thing. It's a two-way communication device. Fairly inexpensive.
The monocular is also not too expensive.
The ocular implant doesn't come with the monitor there, and can't be installed here. I do not think I could afford it right now, but if I owned one that I

wasn't using already I could afford the installation.
Next is a laser pointer. It's the least expensive thing in this list.
Then the next 3 things are programmable light fixtures. Not too costly.
In the next row here, there's a sash with size-adjustable pockets that will keep track of some informations about their contents. It isn't as expensive as

the ocular implant but I don't know that I could afford it.
Then the plural scanner. Also pretty inexpensive, because it's bulky and isn't top-of-the-line.
There's a nice multitool. It has a compass (just in case, I guess?), global position tracking, a receiver for some types of transmissions, a thing to set

things on fire, and some other stuff. I think I could barely purchase it.
Last thing in my view here is this thing that you put on your arm and fingers, and when you touch something it will record some data and tell you about it.

I'd say its costliness is about medium here.

The food was less expensive than just about anything here. I don't think I could tell you my exact amount of funds in a meaningful way.

Dessen's a freaky extreme telepath. It could know where ANYone is, even from within another universe. Kind of comforting, but kind of scary too.

I don't want to go to some places, and since I just got here I'll have to like, get through security and everything so some of the ships are leaving too soon for me. I don't want to wait too long either. That should only leave a few options, so I'm trying to show you only those ones. Is it working?

Hm. I've seen some strange eyes. If you think it looks more like a teleporter or a wormhole, I'd go with that.

With teleportation the only thing to limit 'speed' is the amount of energy available... But you have to know where to teleport. Meeting you in person would really be something! Maybe even a little too crazy. I can't pilot a ship or anything though so I don't think that would work.
I'm not all that into biology... Plus, at this point, I've seen enough strange creatures that I don't think yours would surprise me!

[[Note that the image is almost certainly nws... Also, I apologise for taking so long, and now for rushing the update a bit, but I was quite busy.]]

"Merrito" was the pseudonym of Lakan 13 Left, a great artist and pornographer. The field of pornography was already very old and still underdeveloped when he started, but with such a low interest by the general public, he felt had to really get creative. Most pornography beforehand was very simplistic, just showing the acts of sex, but Merrito was not satisfied with this, opting for a more unique presentation style....

The "Spectrum" series features rainbowlike arrangements of multiple subjects, such as the one shown here. The shine on the eyes is visible due to the use of an As-Eye camera with Extraspectral settings. Merrito possessed the Extraspectral vision trait, and felt that others should see his works as close to the way he did as possible. This influence is also present in many of his paintings.
Not all of his art was pornographic. Even so, that is what he is most well-known for. Though he did not succeed in making sexually explicit works popular, he still gave us some pretty and sometimes thought-provoking things to look at. In this [["book"]] is a roughly chronological sequence of all of "Merrito"'s known pieces, accompanied by background information, and sometimes commentary by Merrito himself. We hope you will enjoy it.

Narus, we are an amalgam formed from the interactions of many independent beings. Our personality shifts as members enter and leave the group.

Other amalgams from the same pool of beings are currently observing many others in differing situations, but there is one common thread to all these situations.
Something very important is happening. Since you don't seem to have any problems yourself, it's quite likely that something more significant is about to occur.

Investigation is advised.

Oh, yeah. When I see eyes they just look black. People with the Extraspectral vision trait can see reflections on other people's eyes, unless those people have it too. It has to do with the stuff eyes are made of and how they receive light. You probably have... a different optical range completely. It usually depends on your sun. Or whatever you have. The first time I saw a shine shown on someone's eye, I thought it was kind of weird!
Mmmm, the second one was like... there-ish. I only have a really vague idea of where the first one came from but maybe it'll be helpful.

No. 142070 ID: 701a19

Compassion is an emotional response, and one which is best used as a weapon against our enemies.
These hostiles have attacked a civilian transport. This is something which must be discouraged. The most effective way to discourage such behavior is with immediate and horrific retribution. The goal is not just to kill them, but to make those who would follow proceed with caution.

Further, they demanded for us to be handed over. Responding immediately on our own helps establish that we are a player, not a pawn.

Also, I believe the best course of action to dispose of the nanites would be to append them to our own form as a means of increasing mobility and functionality.

If they have anything like YOU, that would be way bad, but I'm guessing they don't or like they would have used it to capture you.

Alright... You should pick up the stray projectiles, too. And try to salvage as much of the aliens as you can.

Afterward he explains the attack that just transpired.there are questions throughout, which Narus answers when he can.

Oh yeah I picked it up and pocketed it. Thought you'd notice.
I actually totally forgot I was cut! Good of you to remember.
This vacation is becoming pretty unrelaxing!

Impulse weight 2 is only enough to produce a Power Ring with the yellow impurity, with the ability to manifest or demanifest a uniform and to translate languages, and an enourmous requirement of will to manifest constructs. Narus will presently be unable to produce constructs.a limited protective barrier can be generated, which will not enable flight but will cause a negligible ability to jump more effectively.

It has declined to give us new technology, but has revealed the existence of other universes and demonstrated things that defy our understanding of our own. Examples include spontaneous generation of wormholes, and its ability to alter the physical properties of itself and other objects, such as gravity and even temperature (which is particularly baffling), by methods which could not be identified. It has only appeared in the last [[~1 decade]], and not all of Uis has heard of it, for various reasons. There has been speculation about its intentions, particularly after the Epicentral government said that it sometimes walks among us, but does not reveal itself. Now that we embrace the aesthetic, we confuse aliens who sees our [[produced things]] too. By using certain conventions in construction, we can make it intuitive to discover what an object does, for those who know what to look for. People realized very quickly after the style became widespread that it could get out of hand very quickly (which it did), and the then-active acting group, "We Want You To Watch Us," performed a sketch featuring the idea on their television programme....

task completed

You really want to change me that much? Geez... let's start with... hm. Being stronger sounds good.

Ah, we do have those. The [[magnetic sense]] recordings are neat, but they're really more of a novelty than anything. We have much finer hearing than [[magnetic sensing]]. We've also got soundscapes, which are recordings, or simulations of recordings, of locations. The idea is you close your eyes and imagine what it's like to actually be in those places as the sounds take you on like a tour. Some of the simulated ones are really realistic but also represent places that don't make sense spatially. Those are cool.

You're crazy.

Usually I like soothing music. I can appreciate even really crazy music, but I don't go out of my way to listen to it. Visual art is one of my favourite past-times, up there with sex and [[video games/board games]], and I often like to listen to something calm while painting or what have you.

I'll try. Remind me when we get back to Uis.

I have only been on mind-altering drugs a few times, but this reminds me of that. Are those things what you look like?

Uhh. Yeahhhh...?

+1 to disguising ourselves as, and replacing/absorbing, Narus's shirt. On second thought let's sort of cover it so when we slither off he still has a shirt on. Well now that I've been thinking about it a while why don't we form a thin transparent film over most of his body. Cover everything that won't harm him. We can bulk up into body armor in an instant.

Sorry! We got carried away. Oh hey, speaking of Dessen, you said he had a kind of symbiotic relationship with you, and you reserve your fluids for him. Does he like, drink your blood or something?

I'm going to go along with the strength increase on two conditions: Nanite presence is temporary, and strength is limited to twice of normal ability. If we make him too strong he risks damaging things without meaning to.

Hm. Are your clothes usually like that? They seem kind of odd.

It's ok... Just try to give me a better warning next time.

impulse weight 3[-2] is stored toward this action

impulse weight 3[-1] is sufficient to make Narus slightly stronger

impulse weight 2 is not sufficient to this task

Yeah, like that sort of thing. In return it fills my brains with awesome feelings while it's feeding. It feels similarly to the way sex feels, but they're definitely not the same. I feel it in my whole body, more in sensitive places and wherever Dessen is touching. I'd like it even more if it weren't such a creepy process... Totally worth it, though.

I'm going to democracy making you stronger as well.
No. 159255 ID: 3de05a

Oh, really? We might be able to stimulate you like Dessen does. I mean, it seems like we could do anything with enough of a consensus... and that particular act doesn't sound difficult. We shouldn't try right now, though! People would stare.

We managed to increase your strength a little. More improvement could be made if we got more of a consensus going.

(hey new voices how about you add some impulse weight to the Green Power Ring so that it actually does something useful? Keep in mind you can vote for multiple things at once with no penalty.)
No. 159256 ID: 3b6c92

You raise a good point!

I'll add weight to both of those.
No. 159259 ID: af61ca

I am made of impulse weight and voting

We could elect a captain. Someone who decided what to do and we would back them unconditionally. We would have to trust their judgment even if we disagreed with it. Whatever they decided to do would get done and done flawlessly. If we elect somebody stupid this has the potential to backfire on a scale never before seen on tgchan. And that's saying a lot.

For now let's try to keep a low profile and not attract any more attention than we already have. Holy shit. How the hell did I miss Narus wanting to be stronger? +1 strength.
No. 159326 ID: 3de05a

Nobody should have that kind of power. Even if they have only the best intentions, nobody is perfectly reliable. We all fuck up sometimes.
No. 159327 ID: 1ac39d

exactly, which is why we are powered by democracy!
No. 159342 ID: 701a19

+1 to each.

Let's empower our lord and master a little. Nix on the goodfeelies, that would just be... awkward due to circumstances.

Impulse weight toward increasing Narus' strength is now at 6.
I feel stronger... he lifts himself, with one arm
Yep. Cool! I feel stronger... EVERYWHERE. But now's a bad time to really test that. Don't make me stronger than this for now!

Hmm. Yeah, I'd be up for that experiment later. We couldn't make a regular thing out of it, though.

re-evaluation of currently stored impulse weights:
Green Power Ring: 7
Female Cyral body: 0
Increase Narus' strength: 6
Transparent armour film body: 2

also storing:
drop of Silirw Cyral blood
liquid remains of 5 aliens
2 sharp projectiles

become dormant until arrival?continue activity?

No. 159553 ID: 559e17

I endorse female Cyral body and strengthening Narus, as lazy as he is.

I oppose the ring idea.
No. 159558 ID: c2c011

Add more power to the body armor.

Also, use interenet references and guides to make a neural implant that would give Narus' a very good knowledge and training in all forms of combat as well as preprogram reflexive responses for firefights and some basic close combat. Only implant it with his consent, if he doesn't consent then store it for later.
No. 159559 ID: 344ef9

No more strengthening Narus. Any more would be dangerous.

And why do you oppose the Green Power Ring? What possible reason could there be? We've already seen that it works, just not very well with the impulse weight that we've put into it. It's not like we have a limited amount of impulse weight to distribute.
No. 159565 ID: 559e17

The ring is just so...so...tacky! Not to mention boring.

And I kind of agree there, no more strength. This is fine for now.
No. 159580 ID: dba7fa

-1 impulse to all proposals involving creating or becoming body armor for Narus.

Also, I'd like to clear the female Cyral body vote.
I will, instead, propose that we prepare a female Cyral form which Narus would consider fairly ordinary so that we have a prepared disguise available, but not enact it yet.

We should become a pair of these.

Voting to put some impulse points towards making Narus' body more efficient, to allow for an overall greater performance increase of bodily functions and improvement of general health.
No. 159650 ID: 9a1fa4

Prepare (prepare only) female cyral form, nix the tacky ring, add armor coating.

Do not strengthen Narus, do however remove stagnation and restore bodily circulation (fix the lazy).
No. 159714 ID: 3b6c92

Sure, okay, I guess we could just prepare the form.

Also, what other people were saying about making Narus more efficient and compensating for his lazy a bit sounds good.
No. 159716 ID: e3e829

>>159650 +1!
I have no original ideas of my own

scan alien remains for anything from DNA to odd alloys.
after scan complete convert remains into extra mass and energy.

Stored Cyral female form preparation registered at 5.

Power Ring registered at 7[-2].Narus can't use it manifest things as such.

Narus' strength remains boosted by impulse weight of 6.

transparent armour film remains with 2 stored

Internet equivalents are currently unavailable

What are they, exactly?

Impulse weight registered (2) is not sufficient to significantly increase Narus' bodily efficiency

Narus becomes slightly more healthy

composition and structure of remains have been recorded.
conversion task complete;remains are unchanged.

Narus idly flexes his fingers and bends/unbends his legs

No. 159829 ID: 344ef9

...let's just go inactive until we arrive.
No. 159830 ID: 3b6c92

So, since we're still waiting around.

Anything else you want us to try altering, since we already made you about as strong as you're comfortable with?
No. 159832 ID: 3b6c92

And yeah if you haven't got anything we're just gonna go dormant until we arrive or you need us for some reason.
No. 159835 ID: 34470e

I'm going to add to the stored Cyral female form.
Those are brass knuckles. They're used to punch people better, but since you don't have any knuckles, I guess they're useless to you.
No. 159837 ID: 1ac39d

actually, that raises a point. how good are your people in unarmed hand to hand combat? would you be able to apply enough force with one hand to break another's skull?
No. 159843 ID: 288dda

Sure, throwing weight behind vaguely creepy F Cyril disguise. (not saying I want the output to be creepy. It's just the premise)

Let's also attempt some minor further Narus-optimization. Metabolic efficiency, neural conduction speed.

Then hibernate due to lack of internet. Wake us up when we get there, Narus.

Nah, I wouldn't feel safe with anything else at the moment.

Oh... Ok. Good-by, then.

No, not quite like that.

Stored Cyral female form preparation registered at 7.

Impulse weight registered (3) is sufficient to just barely increase Narus' bodily efficiency

Normally I couldn't crush another Cyral's braincase or headplate, but I could possibly crush their jaw. I couldn't do anything like that to an Enial. Most people are.... ok at hand-to-hand combat...? I'm better than some, but my training had more of a focus on using a knife and avoiding getting stabbed by someone else's than fighting barehanded. When I won it was usually by surprising and outlasting my partners. Then there are people who study fighting and become REALLY good at different styles and stuff.
