>Racking up a kill before it's even decanted. Impressive work, Garden Team.
>I'm so proud of her!
Hybridisation has definitely been a success thus far.
Prototyping of power suit systems will now be conducted in the manufacturing bay.
There is significant debate about allocation of subsystem control between pilots. This subject will be shelved for the moment and revisited during pilot integration as it appears practical trials will deliver the most reliable results. As a quick summary, handover of control when the Ignole pilot switches forms and the power suit retaining most of its functionality with a single pilot are the primary concerns.
>Special attention is needed for the Varia systems which will maintain not one, but two constant environments within the suit.
Wide range environmental shielding is an extremely complex technology. Maintaining some isolation between Volviti and Ignole environmental subsystems is possible but at this point full tolerance is not possible.
To proceed under localised conditions of extreme heat, radiation or electrical interference, one pilot can eject to allow the mission to be completed by the pilot with higher tolerance.
>We could send waste heat from the generator to the Ignole's compartment, too. Nice and toasty. Heck, we could apply heating coils directly to the Ignole while it's in the pilot seat, to convert some of the generator's output to heat when needed.
Interconnections to redirect heat into the Ignole will be made available.
>We should also find a place to mount a gimballed gun of some sort, capable of tracking fast moving targets with a wide field of fire independent of suit movement. On a traditional vehicle this would be labelled a turret. I recommend a shoulder mount, but the hard-point location can be decided later.
Such additional weapon systems would take excellent advantage of having two pilots.
>Perhaps instead of/in addition to shoulder mounts, a second set of arms be built into the suit to allow the Ignole to handle targeting while the Volviti is moving. The primary arms could specialise in climbing, deflection and the application of blunt instruments.
This requires additional coordination between pilots but will be introduced as an option for consideration.
>Ports on the arms, back and legs allow the Volviti to extend its enhanced manipulators outside of the suit for... whatever reasons you might want a second pair of hands. System infiltration, power absorption, corpse disposal, that sort of thing.
This is possible however doing so and still providing environmental protection to the extruded limbs is considerably more difficult.
>Have you lot considered the necessary modifications to Project Garden's power armor for Project Boiler's Pseudo-Morph-Ball abilities? I understand Garden's body is much larger, but as it has no bones, can you figure some way to compress it without killing it?
The armour will be far too bulky to traverse such possible alternative routes. They will have to be explored by the Ignole pilot in her low temperature mode.
>We need to ensure that the Ignole shrinking into her secondary form will not cause any problems.
>The Ignole should of course have the ability to exit the suit when the smaller form is needed (or when the suit is too bulky and she needs to advance in her predator form). The Volviti should be able to pilot the suit even when the Ignole isn't in it.
The current schema for a smaller power suit will have the Volviti tightly integrated with the suit frame and a quick-release system for the Ignole pilot. This is easily addressed in plans for a larger suit as it is more piloted than worn.
>Okay, so, we clearly need a powerful generator to power the Volviti's energy requirements and abilities. It's growing bigger than normal which means we're going to need an even better generator than before. Maybe two generators, for redundancy?
An outsize generator is a vulnerable point but is likely to make up for this with the additional firepower and shielding the power suit can be equipped with.
>Garden's rad-tolerant biology means we can cut corners on reactor shielding, which saves valuable bulk and mass. Actually, let's try to integrate as much of the rad shielding as possible into the "metroid-proof" isolation layer separating the two of them, leaving Garden more or less inside the reactor and it's delicious magnetic fields.
Understood. Weight saving should be possible by using the Volviti clone as shielding material.
>Jumping might be okay since both pilots will be assisting it.
Analysing. The Volviti's repulsion jump should be usable in mid air, giving additional aerial mobility. The cycle time it has means chaining of such jumps won't be practical.
>Why did this not occur to me? An actual glider mode enhanced by Volviti magnetic gliding.
Given the bulk and weight of the combined power armour and the Volviti clone's unusual size, power to mass ratios are extremely skewed against it. Gliding will not be very effective outside of using magnetic repulsion to slow a fall.
>We could easily design a taser into the suit. Also, laser/energy beam weaponry. A flamethrower or heat ray, to serve as a double purpose system- to warm the environment and to damage enemies.
Electrically based weapon would have high compatibility with the volviti tailored subsystems. If the intention is to heat the Ignole clone while out of the power suit, the heat ray would be more advisable than a flamethrower.
>Some kind of melee weapon, perhaps... mole claws? For digging into the environment and tearing into enemies. The Ignole would certainly take well to claws.
The Ignole clone possesses high temperature claws that have been further enhanced. Some sort of pass-through could be made with heat conductive material.
>Where is the Volviti's railgun? The power armor should include a structure to boost the railgun's effectiveness and provide ammo for it. Specialised railgun slugs, perhaps?
The railgun is actually fired by using two electrically stiffened vines as rails and the Volviti rearranging its internal organs to use a seed pod as a magazine for the firing chamber. Normally unfertilised seeds are used, however the railgun is also used to implant seeds into carcasses.
The railgun will be usable without needing to breach the suit's interior environment by providing an exterior ammunition source and enclosing the vines in material which does not impede the high voltage discharge.
>Similarly, there should be some structure at the Ignole's mouth to allow her to use her heat breath without exiting the suit. Though if she uses it without some source of heat to keep her warm she'll wind up needing to exit the suit anyway due to the form change.
Design of a suitable interconnection will be complex but may be doable.
>Do we have data on magnetic grapple technology? That seems like it would synergise well with Greenhouse as part of it's armour.
A grapple system should be easily integrated with suit design given the approach selected.
>As for the armour, first and foremost we will require systems to assure that our paired pilots will not damage each other, either with poorly understood metroid feeding mechanisms or temperature extremes.
Only two of the Volviti's tendrils have been modified to attempt to mimic a Metroid's feeding mechanism. Perhaps they should be further modified to be colour coded?
>Whats our projected scale for compact Ignole, expanded Ignole and giant Volviti? We should exchange notes with Boiler, they may not be aware of how great we are at cloning.
Current dimensions of Volviti clone are slightly larger than the projected large Ignole form, approximately double that of averaged Volviti-
