In the world of Teagea there are many wondrous places and peoples; from the modest kobolds to the villainous elves. It is a world where a man must strive to find his place lest he be swept aside by the times, and even the best of men struggle on the brink of ruin.

Today, young squire Francis of Athenry, you find yourself in the early hours before your first battle. Even as you review this inner monologue of yours you march with your youth brigade inexorably toward the enemy lines and your first chance, hopefully of many, to repay the vile foe for their transgressions against your clan.

you help your friend up, and while he's conscious, he can barely stand. you can see that he's missing half his tail and was probably running on pure adrenalin since the retreat.

>Maybe you can find the rest of his tail and reattach it?

Oh sure, let me just get out my magic wand and speak the words of power that will allow the halves of his tail to fuse back together!

I don't know what wondrous fantasy world you live in, but here in Teagea, grievous injuries can't simply be undone by finding the severed body part. Perhaps next you'll be trying to tell me that there's a cure for polio, too.

Anyway, you get Frederick back to camp. He's lost a good amount of blood, he's exhausted from fighting all day, and on top of it all he's lost his spear. He'll recover in a few days once he gets some rest and some extra food, but the battle will likely be over by then.

Yeosophine is the most concerned for Frederick; the two of them are very close.

in the General staff tent, you see the commanders presiding over this battle.

General Shaudayr of the Souther auxiliaries, to his left Rear Admiral Floyd of the Goblin air navy, Arbitrator General Baron Oglaf, and Commandant Pubah, leader of the kobold scouts.

they seem to be in a heated argument over how to proceed.

"I've lost three airships already, Arbitrator general." says Rear admiral floyd, "I refuse to risk any more of my air crews to that meat grinder!"

"I assure you, If you push your ships forward once more we'll be able to breach their lines and press on to the fortress." replies Baron Oglaf.

"I recall that's what you said yesterday, and we all know how well that turned out for us. I refuse to endanger my fleet any further, at least until my ground parties can recover the Kirov." snaps Rear Admiral Floyd.

The generals barely notice you, but you've never been one to let arguments and politics get in the way of your mission.

It's obvious if someone doesn't do something this battle will drag on until the Aztecs win. but where can you lead your small band to do the most good?
You see that there is a large artillery camp(1), probably the cause of all the downed airships. you might be able to infiltrate the camp with the aid of the kobold scouts and sabotage the guns.

To the north you see a slave-powered behemoth(2), you could convince the REar admiral to risk one of his airships to place your party on it, to eliminate it from the inside.

The Rear Admiral claimed that he needs to recover the Kirov(3), you've already fought there and are somewhat familiar with the difficulties. Further, it looks like the Goblin Air Marines are fighting there right now.

far behind the lines, you notice the icon of army command marking the known position of the Aztec general's camp(4). If you kill him it may throw the enemy into disarray or even demoralize them into retreating.

what will you do?

Souther, huh?

Does the enemy have Northers?
>>
No. 80963 ID: 7eda8b

Infiltrating the HQ sounds stupendously dangerous. We probably won't be able to convince the Goblins to send an airship to deposit us on the Behemoth without something in his favor first, which means either taking out their artillery or recovering the Kirov. Retrieving the airship seems really dangerous, since the enemy's focused on it. Moreso with their artillery still going.

I vote an attack on the artillery (1). It's away from the front lines, but probably not loaded with elite bodyguards. If you can get in quietly, and get out quickly, you should be able to avoid the main body of enemies.

Speed's essential, but you guys are PCs, so you can probably go fast. Still, I'd request some high-speed assistance for this. Not a whole army, but a little help if things go bad. Cavalry riding something exotic and sneaky, or maybe Souther auxiliaries. Those guys are fast, right?

>KILL THE CANNON

You respectfully interrupt the general staff's argument and propose a daring plan for you to infiltrate the artillery camp and disable the guns. After some boring debate a rousing brainstorming session gives birth to a intricate complex attack:

with the aid of the kobold Scouts your party will disable the Aztec guns, upon completion Rear Admiral Floyd will position his air ships above the behemoth where his air marines will board and capture it. Meanwhile the souther auxiliary will maneuver around to support your mission.

after some boring travel and arguing with Yeosophine over how she doesn't need to look after Frederick since he's perfectly capable of washing and feeding himself but giving up after the third time she punched you you have arrived at the large artillery camp.

It is obvious at this point that "large" was in reference to the size of the guns.

You also realize that you have no idea how you're going to disable the guns.

My what? I'm not getting any closer until we have a plan.

>How do they work?

I've only ever heard stories about cannon from maimed war vets before today. I assumed they were like really accurate catapults, but they look nothing like any catapults I've ever seen.
>>
No. 81023 ID: 7eda8b

Do you have any means of lighting fires?

If they're like normal cannons, they have powder which goes boom when you light it, creating pressure in a tube which hurls a projectile out. If you pile up that powder around the base and light it, the whole machine should detonate nicely.

Detail this plan to the others and approach.
>>

>>80999
Well, one way to do this would be to spread out- even though the cannons are very destructive, they're limited in AOE and firing speed. If you spread out, you might be able to reach them before you lose more than one or two people, though you WILL lose those people.
I would advise stealth, trickery, or some kind of ranged fire, though you'll want to move immediately after shooting.

Honestly, sometimes I truly think I'm going mad.

>Don't charge the cannons. Goddamn. Sneak up on them. If you can't sneak up on them, forget it.

We've been sneaking up on them. they're about as snuck up on as they're gonna get. Any closer and I'll be able to spit on them.

I may not know how they work, but I know what cannons do. I'm thinking that they need to be pointing at you to make you dead, and they look so big that We can probably get in amongst them to make the prospect of using the cannon on uus a bad idea. I see some wagons and stuff and a long line of poorly armed soldiers moving boxes up to the cannon. and the cannon are of course making LOUD NOISES and probably making widows down at the front.

I'm thinking this might be easier than you're telling me it is, voices in my lunatic head.

Keep in mind you will eventually need to retreat. See if you can start blasting Aztec positions. In the confusion and... darkness...? (Is it night?) you can perhaps do a lot of damage. If the cannons prove too difficult to load and fire, or if the enemy rapidly gains its bearings to attack you, focus instead on sabotaging the guns by detonating large amounts of blast powder in/around them.
