If the idea is freeing trapped people to reach Emerald will deal with their shades and also wake them up, Basant is up there for top pick along with Poppy in terms of total shades generated and threat level of said shades.
Dealing with either one would take a lot of heat off everyone still fighting especially with Lucy being separated from the Bee Team.

As for Ophi giving orders, she crumpled up in an agonizing heap spewing out shades as soon as control swapped to to a new host. And if the tendril cocoon is an indicator of how it assumes direct control, then we are in a prime position to interfere with it if it tries swapping right now anyway. I will say though, this is also assuming time is still passing normally here and not just in the entire instant we came in contact with the portal through the sword, in which case it wouldn't matter who we freed first.

Finish freeing her(not really any risk to that), then get a look at what's attacking your shield. If the attack isn't coming from the big cocoon, go for that next.

From what I could tell the attack is coming from the edges of the area you're in. Or some kind of glowy purple creature? Anyway, you're gonna need to start dodging it. Maybe you could lure it into doing damage to the cocoon, even. If it's too smart for that and you can't really do anything to the cocoon, then release Ophi and hope having everyone free is enough to give you an opening.

Same, Ava was also my gut choice, thought that was her bulb shaped head being covered up. But since she shares so many body proportion similarities with Rip with the head covered, I doubted my intuition. RIP

>>875515
Finish freeing Ava and see if you can usher her a safe distance away from the attacker before you move on Ophi. Make "I told you it was bad, but you didn't listen." gesticulations at her if you get a second while doing so.

Get a look at whats attacking you, try to keep its attention on you and away from the others while you evade it. Maybe try thinking about the Flying Song about having wings that you sang before and the feelings it conveys? If you're floating around by willing it, maybe visualizing a swifter mode of flight will help speed you up?

Are Poppy and Basant still here in this realm? Are they also in danger of being attacked or have they disappeared? If not, once you free the rest you all might have to gang up on this jerk to escape.

You can press the attack now and blind side it while its not looking thanks to Basant. You're intervention will also probably buy some time for Basant's barrier to reform.

Oh, huh, does the fragile shield show up on the others when you touch them? It looks like Poppy regained hers when you pulled her out just now. You should refresh Basant's in that case, and whoever else doesn't have one. If we keep everyone's shields up and keep damaging the monster while Raven keeps her shield from getting damaged further, we'll eventually wear it down.

I get completely up on my feet. Ack! The stab pain is back.

Huh... I'm holding Ava's sword's hilt. No signs of the stones that was part of the sword.

Raven: "Hey, Is anyone else okay?!"

As I notice Lucy's cloak in the sand near me, she pulls herself out.

Lucy: "*groaaan*... What's going on?"

I move over to her. I grab her arm to try and help her up, but I feel like it's more of a gesture at this point.

Raven: "I think it's over."

Lucy: "Raven! You're ok!"

Raven: "Ah... yeah, heh."

Lucy: "It's over? I helped you up and after that... Things seems a bit hazy. I don't see the portal... It really worked?"

She looks around the result and I follow suit for the others. I spot them also groggily getting up to their feet from the sand. I think everyone is here...

Most of the bees, Rip and Emerald are generally grouped up in the same area. Both Poppy and Ophi are still on the platform, while Basant and Rufa are around it.

Seems like there's a mound where the portal once was.

Once we're both up, I put away the sword hilt.

Raven: "We should get everyone under some shade. Emerald's tower might be the best spot."

Lucy: "Y-yeah."

Raven: "-OOF!"

Suddenly, I get tackled and held to the ground!

Rufa: "Where the hell is Ava!?"

Lucy: "HEY!!!"

Rufa's hold is almost immediately removed from me as she is picked up off the ground, though she's not happy about it. Rufa is packed with fury and the Minotaur struggles at controlling her.

>Also. Where's the owl?
>Any idea where Ava is?
>Ava's back where we left her wrapped up and behind a bed. Now that the ruins are un-jumbled again, Lucy or Emerald could probably show us the way back to the researchers sleeping quarters.

Raven: "Rufa! Stop it! It's easy to find Ava now that everything is back to normal!" She clams down, listening."Emerald or Lucy should be able to tell us where she is."

Lucy: "*Uuf* The witch will know."

Rufa: "She better."

Rufa breaks Lucy's grasps and stomp in the direction of Emerald. We both follow her in case Emerald need assistance. On the way, I check on each group from afar again. It seems like Calla is tending to Emerald, who seems a bit shook, but her head is down so I can't tell fully how she's faring. Nearby, Poppy joined the other bees and Marigold is pretty much giving hugs all around. Most of the attention of the other bees is directed to Poppy. I notice that Basant has not moved from his spot and Ophi is frantically addressing him. But after a moment I do see him move, though that fact doesn't calm Ophi down.

I also make a mental note of the other things I want to do, but seems like there are more pressing immediate matters.

Lets check up on those who were in the portalscape with us. Start with Emerald since she was the worse for ware in there and is probably still reeling from the portal really being gone and all the effects it had on her.
Also to keep Rufa from harassing Emerald and Emerald from getting pushed over the edge and slinging magic all over the place.

After we can check on Poppy since she is with them and then see whats up with Basant and Ophi.

Check on Emerald first. She's likely to tick off Rufa without a mediator.

...hmm, Emerald was also the one in the big cocoon. I wonder how much of her behavior was influenced by the purple creature? Maybe she's finally feeling regret, guilt over all the people she killed and tortured. She might need you more than anyone else right now.

At this point I don't even think demons are involved... it was something else.

>Lets check up on those who were in the portalscape with us. Start with Emerald since she was the worse for ware in there and is probably still reeling from the portal really being gone and all the effects it had on her.
>Might as well see to Emerald first.
>Check on Emerald first. She's likely to tick off Rufa without a mediator.
>Check on Emerald.

I hope that Basant is fine enough for me to check on Emerald first, so I continue to follow Rufa close, alongside Lucy. I notice that Rufa has Rip's sword and sheath on her back. Once we get close enough, Rufa shouts at Emerald.

Rufa: "Hey!"

Calla turns to us with a stern expression.

Raven :"Get ready to hold Rufa again, just in case."

Lucy: "Yeah."

Rufa: "You! Take me to Ava!"

Emerald raises her head to face us. I almost bump into Rufa as she stops herself on a coin... Oh...

Emerald's cheeks are still stained with purple. Otherwise she looks pretty roughed up, but with a blank expression.

Emerald: "Huh?"

Raven: "... Emerald, are you... How are you feeling?"

Emerald: "I'm fine."

Her answer is pretty deadpan.

Calla: "She still seems a bit shook from what happened. She might need some time to process what happened."

Rufa: "... Wait, she's suppose to be the one who knows where Ava is! How the hell are we suppose to find her?!"

Calla stands up and moves a bit in the way of Rufa and Emerald.

Calla: "She's gonna need some time before she can help anyone. We have to wait until she's ready!"

Rufa: "What if Ava doesn't have that time!? She needs to snap out of it now!"

Emerald: "Wait. What is going on? I'm suppose to do something?"

Why don't we just form a search party?

Though, you could ask Emerald one simple question: what happens to the person that activates the portal, if the ritual is interrupted?

Be calm and gentle with her. 'You remember what happened, right? We were just concerned about Ava."

We left Ava tied up in one of the bedrooms of your tower. Do you know where the bedrooms are?

Simply ask her to come with you for now. By the time you reach the underground, she'd have regained a little bit of her senses.

Oh right, I guess Ava should still be in one of the rooms down there. ...maybe we shouldn't have tied her up so securely.

Give Emerald a hug!

Oh, before we forget, Raven said that the stab pain is back, so I think she should check to see if it’s only pain and she’s not also bleeding.

>you could ask Emerald one simple question: what happens to the person that activates the portal, if the ritual is interrupted?

The ritual didn't actually start. All that happened was the portal was activated. And both Ava's and Poppy's blood was used to activate it. If anything would have happened to Ava, I'd guess it would be happening to Poppy too.

>Be calm and gentle with her.
>We left Ava tied up in one of the bedrooms of your tower. Do you know where the bedrooms are?

Raven: "You remember what happened, right? We were just concerned about Ava. She was in one of the bedrooms..."

Emerald: "Oh." She gets up. "Yeah. Those are sealed off."

Rufa: "WHAT?!"

Rufa shows a new emotion devoid of anger. I also notice Rip is standing next to Lucy now.

Emerald: "It's fine. I can reopen them. I just need some time."

Rufa's anger is back.

Rufa: "Why did you-!? Uuugh! Let's just go and get her!"

Raven: "Emerald! Wait a sec!"

I walk over to her.

>aw. give the poor girl a hug.
>Give Emerald a hug!
>Warning: Hugtime.

I hug her.

Raven: "Things will work out."

I continue to hug her for a moment.
