You awake in what appears to be a large hole. You have no idea how you got there, but you are quite sure this is NOT the sky.

Who am I?

Stand up, see if we're injured, then examine our surroundings.

Look up. Examine self. Is that one wing broken?

Are we a dragon?

You stand and brush yourself off, assessing the situation and making sure nothing seems broken. You're a little bruised, but nothing to bad.

You quiz yourself to make sure you still know who you are, as you've heard many stories of people who happen to wake up in strange places not knowing who they are, but you forget what that's called.

You are Demesi of Angoldas, but your friends always just called your "Deme" (apparently two more letters was to much for your lazy friends). You are a Nedynvor, which is odd, because Nedynvor usually stick to the sky, and you are clearly in a hole in the ground.

It is dark. There doesn't seem to be much down here with you, just a few small rocks, and what appears to be a small hole in the base of the wall.
No. 782 ID: c80cec

Can Deme climb/fly out of the pit? Failing that, examine the small hole.
No. 783 ID: f373c2

This, but check the hole before leaving. There might be something valuable in it.

The walls of the hole seem far to loose and mooshy for you to effectively climb... almost like mud even.

Perhaps the hole within the hole will yield better results

You hunker down and grab a snout full of hole.
The hole seems to go in a short ways. At what you can only assume is the "end" there seems to be some sort of object... something that seems to be shining in the limited light that there is.

You've been ROBBED! It's getting to the point that a person can't black out in a hole in the ground without being taken ADVANTAGE OF anymore!

All you're left with is your LUCKY SCARF (for all the good it's done so far) and a can of MUNDU WORMS FOOD RATIONS, though one seems to be missing, it appears your burglar didn't take a liking to Nedynvor cuisine
No. 806 ID: 3ae82c

That stuff isn't useful right now.
Try to reach the shining object with your claw?, dig a little bit if necessary.
No. 807 ID: 8ce2bf

Get the shiny thing and then drown your sorrows in the can of MUNDU WORMS FOOD RATIONS.
No. 808 ID: 7eda8b

Is your body really big or is your head just really small?

Obtain shiny. I can't think of any way to use your current equipment to help. The scarf might extend your reach except it doesn't end in any kind of hooking implement.

The object is to far back to reach with your claw, and your feet are ill suited for grasping. But you do know of another way to reach it.

You push your tiny head into the hole as much as it will allow and begin extending your PREHENSILE TONGUE, probing into the darkness, slithering toward the object.

Opps, looks like the object reacted to your tongue's bio-electric tip causing an accidental discharge and sending a mild shock back through your body.

Can you see a ceiling, or anything blocking the hole?
No. 851 ID: 7eda8b

Can you swim or float? You can fly, so you can't be very dense, I hope. Maybe we can just tread water to the surface.

There does appear to be a ceiling, but it doesn't look to be directly above the hole
No. 854 ID: 9dd38f

Considering the avian frame, Deme should be light enough to float. If not, I hope he can swim.
No. 855 ID: 10708d

Asses how far the ceiling is away from the hole.
Also, remind yourself whether you can swim or not.
No. 856 ID: 8ce2bf

as high as the water has gotten, you would have to dunk your head in to reach the hole again, and with the thick texture and unpleasant smell of this water, that's something you'd like to avoid...

Luckily, your light avian frame makes you fairly capable of floating, even though you've never actually learned how to swim, good thing all you have to do is stay at the surface.

As the water gets within arms length of the mouth of the hole the pouring slows to a trickle and you clamber up onto the ledge.
No. 864 ID: 8ce2bf

Wonderful, now you're soaking wet, cold, and smell AWFUL... but at least you're out of that hole. Your body can deal with the cold for a little while, but with the damp clothing adding to your problems, you'll need to find a way to dry off sooner, rather than later.

It is dark so your vision is limited. There appears to be an EXIT to what you believe is EAST and WEST

No. 960 ID: 7eda8b

Well, no point waiting around. Time's a wasting. We need to find a way to warm up or dry off, and there's probably at least one person on the board who wants to see your weird dinosaur body naked, so taking off your clothes probably isn't an option.

Let's go to the EAST.

I doubt you'll be getting much further into the city without a SHOCKER CRAB or two. If you are looking for the way out, as It remembers, the exit is back the way you came and to the WEST. If you are low on COINS, This One is more than willing to accept TRADE instead."

"What's an 'ENKINDLER'?"

I think this is a good a place as anywhere to strain our brain meats and remember what the hell were we doing before we ended up in this cave. Had we a destination? Some sort of chore? Were we carrying anything important?

You EXIT WEST. There appears to have been some sort of structural damage to this cave and SMALL STONES are littered about, STALAGMITES and STALAGTITES seem to have broken apart and lie against one another. EXITS are to the WEST and NORTH.

You wrack your BRAIN MEATS trying to remember what you were doing before blacking out. All you can recall is that you had stopped to eat near a hill, then you woke up in the hole. Unfortunately, Nedynvor aren't known for their long term memory.

You take one of the GLOWING MUSHROOMS. It's thick stem puts up some resistance, but being a smaller one, eventually gives way. If a small one was this difficult to break, it must take a mighty man, or possibly some sort of tool to take down one of these giant ones...

You stow the GLOWING MUSHROOM in your bag and begin heading back the way you came toward the EXIT the Kren told you about.

You pull your tail up over your head as you dive out of the hole you entered through. Moments after clearing the portal, a loud hiss echoes through the cavern as a wall of flame blasts by, filling the tunnel. A few flames lick the entry way and a welcome wave of heat flushes over you.

Your pants feel a little dryer, which is good, because you're pretty sure you recently just made them a little more damp...

"This is not a Liege egg... This is a TUMBLER WORM EGG. This One thought It had heard one rumbling around somewhere. This One cannot trade you the LUMBER AXE, as this EGG was not part of the agreement. You attempt to haggle with the merchant in an attempt to convince him to give you the axe, but Kren are notoriously shrewd business-bugs, and he refuses to yeild. You let out a disappointed sigh and reluctantly accept the PLANKTON LANTERN.

"PLANKTON LANTERNS are a favorite among us Kren. Just place some form of food into the lantern, and the plankton inside will glow as they devour it, usually providing ample light for hours at a time. A good source of food for the lantern is LIEGE FECAL MATTER. It lasts a long time as it ferments in the water. You can generally find it in pools of FOUL SMELLING WATER."
No. 1643 ID: c30553

Foul smelling water? Feces...?
Tear off the seat of your pants and throw it into the lantern.

Ripping the seat of your pants out seems like a pretty bad idea, there's already enough of a draft as is. You wring out what FOUL SMELLING WATER you can from your pants into the PLANKTON LANTERN and it begins to glow, you'll probably need some more if you want that "hours of light" thing the Kren promised. You equip your SMALL STONES and proceed back to the chamber with the hole you woke up in.

"Lohrke are famous for their technology, all of which is built around electricity. Due to the abundance of these crabs in the lower levels of the cave system, the Lohrke have employed them as a primary power source and use them for almost all of their mechanisms, such as switches that are activated by an electric shock, 'batteries' that harness and store the crab's electricity for later use, and even artificial lights for when the mushrooms are in their night cycle. "Oh! This One is most impressed! It gladly accepts your trade for the SHOCKER CRAB for the BOAT. Since you brought It an additional LANTERN as well, It shall give you a MAP as well! It provides a layout of the Lohrke city beyond the COG. Though, It wonders... where did you find such items?"

You pass through the check point easily, as no one is there. It strikes you as a bit odd, but certainly makes your progress less of a hassle. There is another gear on the other side which appears to have been forced open at some point.

You pass through the portal and find a cliff over looking a city. It appears a little worse for ware.

This chamber is very well lit. There are many clusters of glowing mushrooms growing across the ceiling of this cave, as well as smaller bunches that appear to be set periodically along the streets bellow.

become aware of what?

You set down with a *fwump* in the middle of town square. There is a VERY large statuesque fountain in the center, probably depicting some great leader or god of some sort. As well as what you assume is a town hall, or possibly a library, judging from the decorated doorways. There is a large hole in the wall and the street is covered in rubble.

That's a good question... now that you think about it, you realize that you didn't actually see a single person on the streets at all while you were passing over the Market and Residential districts...

The doors to the buildings are small, roughly comparable in size to those you found in the mushroom lake shack, so it may be safe to assume what ever lives, or lived here are short, and possibly the same as that corpse you found.
