What kinds of magic is this old tower supposed to hold? It has to be something pretty impressive if it's kept people out for so long.
The water thing sounds particularly interesting. Are there any pipes or flowing water around?
Well...this giantic tower was the tower of a powerful mage of some sort who ended up destrying himself trying to cast the ultimate magic wich sound so cool, too bad he screwd up badly, but maybe some intersting artifact is still here...for the water it just drip off the huge crystal at the center of the tower forming a small lake that flow outside, from where it appears is unknown, tough"she blush a bit"still rambling...sorry;
inventory: I have my knife, my father gave it to me, he said he was a gift from a friend of him, it have a weid rune carved on it, but no one knows what it means, three meters of thin rope, it's enough for me to move from a floor to another and it's pretty strong, my lantern, wich is pretty sturdy and a small bottle of water if I'm thirsty"

Anyways try rotating the safe first if you can and see if it makes any special sounds when you rotate it enough. If we're lucky it might click or something when we hit the right number.
