Seven A.M.

Nine hours to go.

Wow, I can't believe today is the day already. I mean. Wow.

What will I wear? Oh no, clothing is everything. Almost everything.

Food, anything that will keep well or is high energy. Something to hold water in and anything valuable to sell. You should all wear servents clothing or older pieces that are worn out. Anything new and shiny will simply catch attention and you will be remembered. I doubt there is anything really worthwhile but take some very sharp kitchen knives.

Take some food and anything that has sentimental value to you that doesn't look expensive.

Also, it would be best if you put on a less fancy dress to blend in.

Each of us gets food for ourselves. I take a kitchen knife, and sheath it in a book so that it does not cut all of my stuff! The book is called Sermons of The Prophet Jerem.

I change clothes, but pack my fancy Serratian outfit just in case!

Shai-shai's outfit is not that fancy.

I tell Shan-ha that she should change so that she does not draw attention.

>"Haha! No, I am not going to spend my first night in the city in rags! You may, but you will only serve to make me look better."

We get Shai-shai to throw our makeshift grapnel. It takes at least ten tries to catch, and makes a lot of noise!

"Ach! Shan-ha, you are stepping right on my head!"

>"Quit whining. You wouldn't have to go first if you weren't so heavy!"

We are able to successfully scale the wall. I fell on my first attempt, but landed in grass with the wind knocked out of me. I am fine!

I have to ask what skills have you learned under Madame Zo?

Good to hear you're okay! Congratulate each other on a successful escape.

How much do you know about the city outside? (Is there a city outside?) Anything you know could potentially be important, especially if you've never been outside the walls before.

Who is the Prophet Jerem?

What is the WORLD OUTSIDE like? Also you should get some distance from the house! RUN GIRLS RUN (at an unsuspicious pace. Soooo walk girls walk!)

fantastic. Now you're on top of the wall, look around to see what you can see.

And then let the rope down the other side so you can let yourselves down.

This.

In addition, can we see everyone's inventory? We know what Chenhua grabbed, but can we see what Shai-Shai and Shan-ha have?

We see a land of bleak and dismal wonders before us.

Oh.

Oh my.

Well. I'm guessing this isn't exactly what you were expecting? How many of the things out there do you recognize?

At least hiding shouldn't be too difficult.

Sneak over to those large box things on the right. Hide between them to get a closer look at what's going on.

Oh crap. They were really keeping you in a gilded cage back there. Probably part of your place's appeal: Girls that have no clue about the troubles of the outside world, in a setting that won't remind people of it, at all.

We flip the rope over, making sure that the grapnel is in a secure place, then carefully drop down the wall. Shai-shai seems to be afraid of heights, and all three of us have burned hands.

We run over to the big box things, and then slip between them. I take one last look at the Peephouse. It is hard to leave home!

>"Come on, Chenhua!" Shai-shai says, yanking my arm "Oh, I'm sorry!".

are you in the middle of an industrial zone, or is there any kind of city or habitation in view? Master Rin must have come from somewhere. Is there a road nearby?

This was only half of the update. TGchan went down while I was updating, so I did not expect it to appear yet. Sorry!

The three of us gather in the tight space in between the large boxes. Through the other side, we can see someone walking with a very bright light. Should we hide, or engage?
>>
No. 430443 ID: 132b99

hide, they probably know all about the peep house and would assume you come from there instantly. after they leave check out the container with the peephouse's marking on it.

That's probably the watchman for the freight yard, don't let him find you, when he is far enough away make a run for it.

Peek at the short side of the crate to see if it has anything that looks like it would open it.
>>
No. 430462 ID: 132b99

see if you can get in it, if you can't then keep heading exactly away from the peephouse. make sure the guy is too far to see you when you move.
>>
No. 430513 ID: 58a693

yeah check to see if any of the crates are opened/easily openable, but if it looks like they're going to make noise, then leave them. .Getting away is more important than getting cloos.

We are in the open, but there is no one around. The watchman is gone out of sight.

And attract the attention of the rail watchman? Even if he doesn't catch them, it could be hours before departure. Days, if it needs repair.

No, our best bet is to move quickly and quietly toward civilization.

is the big metal contraption making any noise? Is it hissing, is there smoke coming out of the chimney? If so, it's ready to depart and you should sneak on board.

I cautiously approach the strange, large thing. It seems to be made of mostly metal, with some wood.

It is sitting completely motionless and still. The containers on the back of it all have the mark on them that is shared by the other boxes in the yard. They are all closed and locked.

We need to decide definitely what we will do!

What you're definitely going to do is put as much distance between you three and the Peephouse in as small a time as you can. You just need a direction.

All three of you climb in the back of the big metal wheeled thing. Have the others give you a leg up onto the first container so you have a better vantage point, before they search the cab for tools or anything else that might be useful. Look around for places that aren't water or mountain that have the fewest lights or buildings. That's where the least number of people are at this time, and where you want to go.
>>
No. 431179 ID: b2112e

The safest option is to get to another city by following the tracks, though it will be hard with so few supplies.
>>
No. 431203 ID: 19efb5

Well why not let nature decide, go where the warm air takes you, besides I'm sure it will take you to an ocean and oceans always have big cities.
>>
No. 431242 ID: 72dd1c

Follow the tracks in the opposite direction from the contraption. If you go the direction it is facing, then you will be overtaken by it, and people will have seen you. Go the way it has already come from. It will lead to another town eventually.

>follow in the opposite direction
The tracks seem to end where the beast is pointed! There is nothing in that direction but a corral of those big boxes.

Shai-shai, Shan-ha and I are unable to climb inside, because the containers are locked.

>"I am not touching that filthy wood!" Shan-ha says, and I do my best to quiet her down.

We head off in the other direction, staying alongside the strange tracks.

Our fears are dispelled by this unusual feeling, like that the world is a blank canvas before us.

I am going to miss the Peephouse.

End Chapter One
