This is so easy now, I think I'm really getting the hang of it now.

There's a rustling sound behind him. He turns around and sees Saisai edging her way to him. Her arms are behind her back and she seems nervous about something.

"Hey Artemis.."

"Oh, hey Saisai. What's up?"

"Nothing... Just uh... Wondering how things were going with you. How's everything with Morgan?"

"Uhm... Kinda quiet lately. We've both been working hard so we haven't seen each other much."

Her question does bring up a point though, why haven't you and Morgan done... well, anything? If things are cooling off between you two or just not going anywhere, it would be kinda dickish to keep shutting her down. Ombra and us are disappointed, and your dad would be too!

Anyways, have you tried mixing up elemental and soul magic? Use them at the same time? Mana in your soul blades or soul empowered spells? At least try to use a shield spell backed by a soul shield? Play around with it.

Artemis, Saisai just rewound time again. Twice. The first time was because you wanted to bring Morgan along on the healing mission. The second time was because you wanted to bring Caius along. You should confront her about this, or at the very least comment on the frequent bouts of deja vu around her to let her know you're onto her, but don't tell her our memory exists outside of time, and start watching for feelings of deja vu around her.

Anyway the hearts and the slimes aren't really that acidic. I can grab one and hold it for a while without being burned, they mostly just eat moss.

After a while a Box Slime moves up to them. It makes a little gurgling sound.

I suspect that Saisai is getting more agitated each time she feels like she has to rewind time and fix things. That would be why she's being so brutal here; she's working off the frustration of the fact that you keep not doing exactly what she wants you to do, even though she feels like she should be able to make everything perfect with her new trick.

It's probably not healthy. That said, I'm not sure if pointing it out would actually get her to open up to you more, or if it would just make her inclined to run away from her problem in embarrassment. It might be better to just keep talking to her and finish the mission.

Saisai has recently learned a spell to rewind time, but our memory exists outside the normal flow of time so we remember everything that happened while you get a sense of deja vu. She's been abusing this to do things like see how open you are to the idea of soul binding with her (which you already know about), go on a mission alone with her, and see how you feel about her hanging out with a nice dark elf named Caius. Don't let her know that our memory survives the rewind, and start watching for deja vu around her.

Try to get a few more intimate moments with Morgan in, just to see if she's going to spy on you and try keeping you from having those.

Agreeing with MrTT here. We do need to do something, though, which is why I suggested talking to her instructor and having him talk to her about it as an option. I'm sure at least some light elves go through this phase as well, but since they don't have a nigh-unlimited number of time points at their disposal they can only do it so much and are then forced to quit. The only other option I can think of is to confront her if she crosses a line, because while what she's doing now is childish she doesn't have any real reason not to do it as long as she thinks she's the only one who's sent back.

2. There are several people here saying she will use up time points. I am pretty sure casting time magic does not cause the destruction of time points. Time points are more like your level then your mana, you must be a certain level to cast certain spells, and the power of your spells is determined by your time points, but you do not actually use them up by casting. Please correct me if I am wrong on this.

Whoa there, yes she did finally cross a line. But not a terrible one (its not like she hurt someone).

Also its possible that she didn't plan it as a method to steal a kiss via rewind abuse. maybe it was a spur of the moment thing which she then figured out was a bad idea, maybe its because of how clumsy the kiss was.

That all being said, don't completely freak out here, but something does need to be done.

At first glance I like this plan... except that might be misinterpreted and I am quite sure she will take it the wrong way. Also the grabbing is getting too physical, bordering on the violent.

I would chase her and call out to her to get her attention. You can either immediately tell her you know, or you could walk and talk with her and speak in hypothetical that gets her to think.

If the former, I suggest starting with a question: "Why did you choose to rewind the kiss?"
If the latter then we need to phrase things carefully for a longer conversation. Say that you have been thinking about time magic and its implication and are interested in discussing with her what her teacher had to say about it.

While I would prefer the latter i am honestly not sure we are up for such careful verbal-fu.

Um, Art? Bad news, Ombra says she and Aeryr have been getting a lot stronger recently and can probably take over you and Saisai if they want to. One of the reasons he agreed to give her his time points instead of trying to take her over is the possibility of you exacting vengeance while grief-stricken from his destroying her soul to do so, but if he thinks he can get away with it he may do it anyway. How close are you to mastering soul magic? Because Saisai's advanced fast enough that she's probably at about the same point, and if you only need the soul bind to finish... well, she apparently hasn't got very far with Caius yet so you're really her only choice at this moment. For the record, the Light Elf soul bind apparently changes your past and future so you've always been together and always will be, which could leave open the possibility of retroactively becoming half-siblings depending on what "together" means.

Here's a thought. We know that our (the guardians) memories are unaffected by the flow of time. Saisai can do the light elf bind to Art, and although the timeline will change, we can still remember how things were before.

If anything is really out of place, we can work to fix it. Mainly, my concern is that "together forever" will end up being romantic. (we have no way of knowing until the bind is done) If it is romantic, we can remind Art of his devotion to Morgan, and try to steer things back to how it should be.

What is everyone's thoughts on this? Yours too Art. How would you feel about this arrangement? Saisai might finally come to terms with your relationship to Morgan.

Since Dark Elf binds don't mess with time your best choice is to form a DE bind with Saisai. Hopefully that would be enough to protect her from Aeryr, and Morgan would understand.

I don't think he is the raging psycho you guys are making him out to be. Yea he isn't nice, but at least somewhat pragmatic and art does have the dragonslayer sword and a promise that if he takes her over rather then letting her get him a new body art will abandon his vows and kill him again; maybe permanently this time.

Lets look at it from Aeryr's perspective, he basically needs saisai to finish her training in order to form his own body rather then taking her over. He has been helping her with time points and he might also be the source of the idea of using rewind to get with you.

Why? Because she needs to soulbind in order to finish training and get him a body (just like you do)... And it is so intimate, she has noone to do that with and isn't likely to find anyone for a long long time, if ever, considering how hard she is crushing on Art.

I think Aeryr was helping her get with Art but now that art shot down that time shenanigans plan Aeryr is getting desperate as the prospective of her ever getting a soulbind with Art are getting bleak. Also he might be communicating with saisai just as ombra does and saisai is quite vulnerable right now, unlike art which has us and a nicer dragon (heh). Was it her idea to just flat out offer us a soulbind this morning or was Aeryr pushing that, perhaps threatening to just take over if she doesn't? Has she been negotiating with him?

Also considering how Art is treating saisai Aeryr is probably doubting the threat of Art's reprisal (especially since it wasn't even Art himself that made said threat; but his younger sister who made a guess about Art's personality) if he does go for the takeover route.

Beyond art and saisai forming a bond people suggested bonding with the dragons in question. That is a possibility but there are issues here. If such binds are possible between non lovers then perhaps saisai could lightelf bind with arts sister... or heck, even with morgan (if she would be like a sister to her then)... All those have such varying consequences that we must acquire more data. We must figure out what the binds actually do in full.

We are not trying to stop him, we are trying to convince him to let us free him. We are currently using a carrot and a stick. The stick is the threat that artemis will kill him permanently if he steals saisai's body. The carrot is the promise saisai will get him a new one.
We cannot in any way shape or form PREVENT him from taking her body if he DECIDES to do so. What we can do is CONVINCE him not to decide to do that. We have been doing that thus far with a carrot and stick approach.

Why is it out the window? All this currently requires is that saisai form a lightelf soul bind with any 1 individual and that art maintains access to his dragon killing weapon. that's it.

Currently there are only 3 options:
1. Saisai forms light elf soul bind with 1 person => Training continues to completion, Aeryr gets new body.
2. We destroy Aeryr completely. This breaks Arts vow to the dragons, sets him immediately at odds with ombra, and sets off a full scale dragon war.
3. Aeryr takes over saisai. Saisai is gone, potentially her very soul destroyed or stripped of identity. No dragon war, Art soulbinds morgan, tries to live with the guilt and dragonwar is averted. OR Art flips out, kills Aeryr again, same result as #2 only this time saisai is gone too.

There is currently nothing stopping #1 from occuring. We just need to get saisai to soulbind with someone via light elf bond. And this means we need to figure out what that bond actually does exactly.

I should point out that the other voices of the artifact have already concluded (I wasn't even around when said choices have been made, although I have to say I agree with them) that the goal is not to exterminate all dragons with art's dragonbane sword or trigger/let a dragonwar occur. But the goal is to restore the balance of the dragons. Negotiations were already MADE with all of them, including Aeryr. We are already well on the path for goal #1. finish training and get new body. The only block on that path is that saisai has noone to form a light-elf soulbond with.

The current "crysis" is that we merely think we need to remind Aeryr that it shouldn't get impatient and take over saisai (triggering one of the bad ends) and that we still intend to follow through both parts of the deal, the carrot (new body via training, means saisai needs to soulbind) and the stick (threat to his life if he takes her over). We don't even have anything concrete suggesting he IS going to do break the deal. Most likely he is still honoring it and we are just freaking out.

That and we don't want to further hurt saisai's feeling by blundering again. Because we have been regularly stomping on her heart.

What we should be working out is:
1. Who do we think saisai should light-elf soul bind to. Some of the voices suggested to various dragons. Some suggested Art. Some suggested we hook her up with another boyfriend (maybe that male guard she hangs out with?) and then there is even the possibility of morgan or mimi.
2. HOW do we go about convincing saisai, artemis, and whomever else is involved that this is the right choice. (if we even can... if we can't it might not be the right choice after all).

And yes art, I know you can hear this too.

Paramount to the above is figuring out EXACTLY what the binds actually do (are they always romantic love bonds? can they be sisterly love bonds? etc).

I would like to point to the other voices that I am not even trying to force my own views here, I have yet to actually cast my own vote on a path. Merely point out what the voices have thus far all agreed to and that if we don't come to a consensus BEFORE we start acting we will fail. Luckily for all involved we can think and discuss much faster then the flow of time in their world. As for what my own vote is, I must say that I simply CANNOT form an opinion before we KNOW what the binds do.
I vote we endeavor to actually find out.

Well... that's that then. The "temporary" soul bind means it comes before the full one. It isn't actually something that ends. This is forever. Unless one of your souls are utterly destroyed. I can't say if you two will fall in love now, or how things will be between you and Morgan. But you'll just have to make the most of it. For now... just hold her. I can't think of anything else to do.

Ombra has some idea that involves swapping with Saisai somehow, working out what she means still. Anything that frees her of Aeryr is worthwhile.

The eye color thing first came up when we met that light elf a long time ago. Their eye color changes to reflect their emotions, and Saisai inherited that trait from holding Aeryr. Yellow is confusion and stress, blue is calmness, red is anger, pink is love... And her eyes were a nearly black red earlier witch seemed to mean self destructive and suicidal.

Saisai moves over to sit with them and looks over the notes.

"Have you considered making it a bit delayed? Or maybe even remotely detonated?"

Saisai grabs one of the pencils and begins scribbling a bit.
Artemis tries to look at the notes but he finds his gaze being drawn elsewhere. He feels an odd jolt go through his body. When he does Saisai's ears perk up

Hmm... Eistia is a master at soul magic, but she knows very little about soul binds. I think we should seek out a master of them and find out just what breaking them takes and if you can restrict it sometimes. You can do that later though.

We are detecting a strong ability from Morgan, Try to learn her greater potion crafting, I think she needs to grant it somehow. I'm a bit unclear how it works on the other end, but they have to at least want to give it.

She is however their princess and can easily FIND you a master if needed... however that is not needed. Now that's a bad idea. She might just snitch to Morgan if she feels you're being unfaithful.

Probably the best thing is just to get Saisai to drop it for now, so you can talk it out later. It'll take a lot of getting used to, but like you have issues with her sensing your natural male tendencies, I'm sure she'll have her moments that she will be embarrassed to share with you.

You are a young man who is romantically involved with Morgan. You find her beautiful, and you appreciate her beauty. There is nothing wrong with this.

Morgan is confused and being left out, and that's not good for her, but at the same time, bringing up that Saisai is jealous of her would be a betrayal of the trust involved in the bond you two share... were it not for the fact that you already knew, it's pretty obvious, and Morgan already knows.

Telling Morgan that you find her very physically attractive, and that Saisai can feel that through the bond, and she's getting jealous would clear up the confusion. It would likely get Saisai a bit upset, but no more so than what's already going on.

If Saisai does get angry, be sure to point out to her that Morgan is your girlfriend and Saisai's friend, and so she deserves to know what's going on, and that she might be able to help you both deal with it in the future.

Ok uh... you're pretty aware of your soul now right? Can you feel out the spot where your soul reaches out to hers? Maybe if you can squeeze it down or something it'll keep her from feeling these impulses so strongly.

"I'm looking at you and Saisai can basically feel what I'm feeling through the bond."

She gives the two of them a hug and walks them outside.

Saisai grumbles a bit then walks away.

She gives a wink and goes inside. Artemis smiles and walks back home and rests for the night.

Hey, can you alter other peoples' binds at all? Artemis is having a bit of a problem with his. Sasai can feel when he's attracted to Morgan, basically. So that's pretty awkward. I guess if he has to do that kind of thing himself then he's doing all he can.

So yeah the whole soul binding thing went over pretty well with Morgan, she really is an extremely understanding and easygoing lady. But Saisai kinda had problems with Arts... impulses, around Morgan. Is there a way for him to mitigate that?

And what about you, have you gained any control of your shadow powers? Between us and Ombra your brother can use the Shadow Shield and Shadow Ball spells now, I don't see why you couldn't.

Also, we have a bunch of horrible ideas we'd like you to think about:
First, would it be too much to ask you to teach Morgan a little Soul Magic? Soul Heal, specifically? She could teach it to Art, and her knowing a little bit of soul magic would make it so that Art could teach her more.
Second, what would happen if you Soul Bound with Saisai to help take some of the emotional weight off of her and Art? You can open and close the flow of emotions like the valve of a faucet, right?

Hahaha no. Why would I bind with someone who I have no romantic interest in? I'm almost offended that you asked that of me.
Like I said what my brother does is none of my concern but to me a soul bind is sacred.

In fact I've been thinking about playing a little prank on him to get him back for this.

And yes, my shadow powers are quite powerful now.
