MORTAL GOD

"In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed."

Hello again, loyal Orb. When I last left you to slumber, we had one mere city-state to convert, before setting my grand plan into motion. However...

It seems that a major branch of the church of the Blind One has a headquarters there. Meaning... a majority of the people are hardline faithful. So, my orb, have you any ideas as to approach the situation?

I personally like hood down, plain robe. Maybe runes along the edges. Makes you look... slightly more normal. Basically, I'm thinking that you should LOOK humble even when you're shooting lightning bolts from your fingers.

<<Again, not arting this because I won't do it justice. I'm a better writer than I am an artist, honest!>>

Before my army arrives at the next town, I move ahead, in broad daylight. I wear a simple white robe with a runed mantle, the hood over my head and my smoke sifting out the top, my eyes glowing in the gloom. I approach the noble's home and castle, doors slamming open in front of me and portculli screaming open.

They are helpless to stop me. Arrows fly at me, and stop in midair to drop to earth harmlessly. Men assault me with swords and I fly out of their reach. Eventually, they let me go on my way. I reach the noble, sitting on his stupid throne, shaking in fear. I speak only three words.

"Unity has come."

He screams as a bolt of my will slams into his forehead, and his face begins to shift. Then his body, shuddering, swelling, bones snapping and cracking, blood pouring freely from all hos orifices.

His family watches in horror as I turn the man into nothing but a shuddering mound of biomass, then turn to the rest of them.

"You have one day. Twenty four hours to decide whether to follow me or suffer as this pitiable wretch."

There is a pause. The wife stands.
>"We will not succumb to demons!"

"Very well. Sacrifices must be made for unity. You will be... one of many."

I snap my fingers, and the lump of biomass twitches in response, re-forming into a long, gangly creature with one long bone blade extending from its arm.

"Kill them." I murmur, and then leave, to the wonderful song of their cries of agony. I can see the army swelling on the horizon.

I have the Dicey move through the castle, screaming "UNITY!" at the top of its voice. There were a few cultists, who evade death by praying, in this city, and they immediatly go to work undermining the city from within while I serenely float out of the city. Fires erupt.

I can hear babies crying.

Wonderful.

Hehehe. So, is it time to move on Tan-Tan now? We could start sending out some human cultists who wish to spread your good word out to the various races. It probably won't bring in many recruits, but at least everyone there will have heard of you and your deeds when you show up.

ah, I'm glad we waited until we were strong enough to use violence. I think now we can just steamroll everything in a row with it.

Speaking of, can we make any kind of giant slug or something to simply crawl over cities and crush them? possibly with a snailshell to hold invasion troops?

Ziz is strong. Incredibly so. However, he is helf up not only by his wings, but by large sacs of gas. If these are somehow punctured, Ziz will fall... and his own weight would kill him!

>>32257
>>32262
Great ideas, but larger creatures take disporportionate amounts of biomass. Not to mention, their use would be limited, because I am trying to be as secretive as possible!

Now... The time has come to move to the Tan-Tan tribal lands. There are several decisions we must make before we set out:

What will our sea vessel be?

What special lackeys will we take with us? (Choose two: Tyka, Knight, First Cleric, First possessed)

What race shall we present ourselves to first?
( Orcs, Gnolls, Goblins, Humans, Dwarves )
>>
No. 32291 ID: 9e9b47

>>32273

Who we show up to first is easy. Orcs. Beating up the lead orc always works, and they'll fall in line. Goblins are probably gonna be next for the same reason, plus if you approach the Goblins with Orcs also on your side that's a large intimidation factor.

Knight and first cleric I suppose.

You said air sacs earlier. Can we just attach air sacs to our boats? Having airships would be pretty nifty if we could find a way to strengthen the sac, maybe put a layer of membrane around it. Barring that we can still do normal ships.
>>

We've already got human cultists, so we may have some small advantage there. As for aquatic transfer, Ziz can carry a good portion of our dudes, and I'm sure the human kingdom had boats of some sort.

Who says we are taking our human army with us?
No, no. They will remain here. We'll take a few clerics to show them how strong I can make people (it's a small matter to enhance a living being, I just don't do it often) but I dislike pinkies a great deal and keeping too many around would only make me irritable. Stupid, I know, but that is who I am.

Ziz, Tyka, and the First-possessed will remain here to watch over my holdings. They will contact me if anything goes astray.

I begin to craft my own ship from biomass. Should it look merely like a large fish of some sort?
>>
No. 32324 ID: 01383e

Fish? no. Crustaceans, crawling along the bottom, if at all possible. Hollow on the inside or with life support systems, whichever can hold more troops and yourself comfortably. Also, claws are great defensively, and some come equipped with fusion-explosion capability.

I suppose a large crustacean would be fitting.

I give it life-supporting systems inside its hollow shell, and adapt a set of gills - just in case.

Not a crab, more like a lobster or a shrimp, except with ant jaws. He's more combat-capable than Ziz, but he's not as great a fortress. He holds people in his rather large belly, and is designed to be able to open up the back of his shell to let people out. His claws can crush armor, and his jaws aren't that bad, either.

Huh. It seems that exoskeletal protection might be superior to the forms we use on land.

Why not have all your minions get exoskeletons? All it seems it would do is make them all more durable, and you can stylize it a bit to make it look like some sort of suit of armor. Make conversions of foes easier to have a more knightly look to your minions, and your followers will have better defended messengers of god.
>>
No. 32944 ID: 6faa8c

>>32938
There's a very good reason you don't encounter many creatures with an exoskeleton bigger than an insect. They get all squooshy inside, one good blow with something heavy and they're toast. Since maces and the like aren't as effective underwater, I can afford to use exoskeletal designs. When I get on land, though? Back to the old minions. Don't fix what ain't broken.
>>
No. 32949 ID: 6164e0

>>32944
How about at least bone crests, ridges and whatnot to further protect vitals (You could have all non-metal diceys and other minions grow a hardened bone and enamel crosshatch protecting the eye) the restrictions of exoskeletal life on land are what they are, but endoskeletal creatures sometimes have exposed bony ridges and such, and the usefulness of such organic armor can't be ignored.

Basically, give your creatures two skeletons, and endo and an exo that is just an extension from the endo. Sure, it will make some minions slower, but the added protection, especially to such a vulnerability as the eye (or any other established weaknesses of a unit type), would be worth it, methinks.

Were you actually PLANNING on taking over the oceans as well? Had I been made aware of such plans, I would have suggested doing it a long time ago, until these guys showed up. Clearly we have a hive mind of tiny beings on our hands here. That's a fairly good idea for the base Dicey and Thumper. The + and ++ designs for the Dicey won't need it, however. Thumpers can and will cover their eye with one hand in combat, relying on nearby wakwaks to see.

As for the rest of my designs, I don;t use them extensively enough or leave them in combat long enough to warrant it or the heavy bone armor.

Outer bone is seperate from their main systems and is therefore easily replaced.

Well, the best thing to do right now (if you want to prevent beastly equivalents of those knights showing up) is to stay low and hidden, and eat flora biomass for a bit, while trying to make your way to one of the smallest tribes unnoticed. Hopefully, by the time you reach the tribe, you should have acquired enough biomass that you could build yourself an avatar, some sort of fifteen foot tall minion that you can switch your mind into. If you can appear to the beastly races to be some sort of giant, bestial and powerful figure, it will make conversions easier.

Plus, it will mean you have a means of having fun on the front line too now.

Hey, I haven't really been following this quest, but I have some advice, assuming you're using Paint; save everything as .png, seriously. It makes everything easier without that fucking compression, or whatever the shit .jpg does.

Anyway, other than that, I have no suggestions. However, tomorrow, when I get the chance, I'll read through the first three threads. This looks pretty awesome, and kinda reminds me of that quest on /tg/ where we started as cat cancer.

Getting rid of these yipping assholes sounds like a plan for me!
Alright, something small, yet feirce in the dark caves and tunnels.
Huh. Why does this look familiar?

Someone hasn't taken PSYCH 101!
Memory, as we think of it, is not stored on any one part of the brain. Rather, it is stored by the whole of the brain. Cloud computing, not hard drive.

That's cool to hear!

I save in .jpg because it's the first thing that came to me and the art quality is really secondary. I might change that soon, though.

FUCK YES GRUES

send GRUES to MAUL 'BOLDS through their crawlholes. return with guts full of biomass.

So... why couldn't you just sample the memory centers which contained the mediums you wanted and discard the rest?

Not... really. It's complicated. Memory manipulation is fucking hard for even an Altan of my calibur!
>>

Who said anything about manipulation? Getting at such things physically would involve drilling into their head and pulling bits out. Anything like that would probably end up destroying them.

But, unethical surgeries aside...

I somehow doubt that's the only secret panel in this mountain. Or the last trap. May want to consider simply turning this place into a quarry with your army outside, and loading up ammo for your throwers.

The Grue takes a longass time to return. I have to reconvert the poor thing because it doesn't even fit in the hole anymore.

I need to 'take' someone to taste their memories. <<This isn't Starship Troopers or Half life Episode 2.>>

You now have:
300 KILOS OF BIOMASS

well, make a biological battering ram and get out of here. reform the battering ram back into grues and fungus and have them start occupying the cave system- might as well start ecoinfecting the place.

Ise the biomass to make a beta version of your eventual biomech. Sure, it will be too small now, but each practice version you make will make it easier to diagnose potential problems before you make the final version.

Both good ideas. I need a place to work out from, after all.

Let's see... I'll call a Thumper, and have him break open the entrance. Man, I should have thought of that earlier. Now, I'll make small creatures capable of digging through rock.

And now, we wait. Any of you have plans for my fortress of doom? Grey is already hollowed and smoothed, Dark grey is rock/soil, and black is Kobold tunnel.

make the back of the the cave into a little temple to your divine self, and keep the entrance to the kobold tunnels hidden. Build the rest of your stronghold out of them, being careful to keep it disguised from the outside.

Yes, especially with the moonrunes all about.
Make sure the only way to get to anywhere is by a long, circuitous route through fairly easy, but irritating enemies.
Your enemies will be bald with irritation by the time they get to you.

AHAHAHAH! Yes. A long, confusing route, filled with weak, subpar enemies, occasionally with larger, stronger ones. Anyone will surely give up before long!

It'll take a while to make this thing, however.

have the medusas come from all directions, rather than just in a wave.

And somehow add some cliff racers in caverns.

You really want this to just piss of would be adventurers, combining a big dungeon with enemies like those should give you some peace and quiet.

Man, this shit is gonna take ages!

I bring in my bodygaurds, and have them assist. Converting the Lobster to land-travel is easy enough. Something tells me I might want to find something to do in the interim.
