Good evening. My name is Allan Red, and my world is in pieces. I fought for justice, I casted and incanted my best, I fought harder than anyone, and now all my friends and all my known family is dead.

The world is overrun. Outside this cave lies an army of enemies, and they will soon find me. I was told you are an artifact of infinite power. You are my only hope...

Your world's already sac'd and you came to /us/ for help? Ho boy... you're pretty hosed.

Still, we don't have much better to do, so we'll entertain the notion. Trying to take down an evil army, huh? Well, tell us your abilities.

I was the one told of your amazing power. I come to you now because very few options remain.

Backstory...
Backstory...

I suppose I should begin with mother.

Mother hates war. She works to further mankind through mechanical means. Some of these are augmented by magic, some not. She saved dying fields, she kept people safe, she was more peaceful than any person I know. But sooner or later, for every great scientist, comes that knock at the door and the well-dressed man with no name.

The man said that he wanted to create a cheap workforce. He said that if she could make him a feild worker that could take simple orders and handle farm equipment, he would pay handsomely. She said that she had plenty of combine harvesters available, cotton gins, any machine that could do the sort of work he needed on a grand scale. But the man was adamant. He wanted gentle, dextrous fingers, he wanted to be able to direct them as he pleased.

He was a very persuasive man.

And so my mother made the first humanoid machine. She imbued it with a simple artificial soul so it could speak and listen, and made it only as strong as the common man. At first, the money was welcome, and the man was kind, and pleased.

I am certain some of you may know where this is leading.

Time passed, and orders grew. It was not long before others wanted their own, stronger, better field workers.
For a time, business boomed. For a time, me and my friends were happy and safe.

For a time, no stupid fool had the idea to arm the bastards.

Armed Man-kins were owned worldwide, as bodyguards, as armies. Mother was distant, and her work consumed her. She feared a second coming of the man without a name. Soon they wanted smarter ones, commanders they could count on. She complied.
They wanted generals.
She complied.
They wanted sentience.
She....

She complied. She was blamed for the fall of our world, because they were stupid enough to let it come this far. They allowed the Man-kins to rise so high, they never thought what would happen! And when they rose up and broke their chains of obediance, who do you think the fingers were pointed at?!

Story-time is over. In short, my enemy is these... robotic bastarts and those who allowed this to pass. I will find the Nameless man and get my revenge. Then I will shut down the Grand General Man-kin. Easier said, than done, clearly. But a goal is a goal.

You have any weapons?

And you said these robots were sentient?

If both answers are "yes", then I'd like to solve your little robot problem while at the same time staging a little experiment.

Toss us at the robot. You know, get it to catch us. We'll try and distract it while you kill it.

If you have no way to defend yourself, then, really, I've got nothing.

Weaponry? Using steel on a being made of metal? Folly. No. I use something... more final and poweful.

I use a magical art known as Incanting. With this, the longer I chant relevant words to the spell, the more powerful it grows, so long as I do not repeat words. My specialty is Fire and Force.

The creatures are smart enough to know how to kill, and how to think.

Woah woah woah, don't you think the nameless man realizes the error of his ways by now? That he understands better than you can possibly imagine just how severe the price of his meddling was?

And these Man-kins, enemy though they may be, are SENTIENT BEINGS. We shouldn't be so hasty in taking their lives. If/when we do find this Grand General Man-kin, we should try to find a diplomatic solution to the man/Man-kin war, such that man and Man-kin can co-exist peacefully.

>Diplomacy

You think we didn't try that three years ago? Something was changed in the Grand-General's soul. I don't know the specifics, but all these Man-kins want to do now is take land, scorch it black, and move forward. Literally: We disabled one and popped it open in the Lab, and they now only have one objective and three directives:
OBJECTIVE: CONQUER.
DIRECTIVE ONE: DO NOT HARM OTHER MAN-KINS.
DIRECTIVE TWO: DO NOT, THROUGH INACTION, ALLOW OTHER MAN-KIN TO COME TO HARM.
DIRECTIVE THREE: OBEY THE GRAND GENERAL.

And that's it. They have the sentience to argue and debate (with incredible efficiency) but they have only one objective.

To conquer.

As for the Nameless Man, I have never seen him since he threatened my mother with a crossbow. And frankly, I don't really care how repentant he is.

It's Green. I've known her since we were kids, and she's the resident tinkerer here. She's the go-to-girl for anything mechanical, but she stays away from Ar Souls. Nothing but clockwork for good ol' Green.

The Darkened Deep is a cave system we found while digging out Avalon. No one's quite sure HOW deep into the earth it goes, how it formed, or even the extent of the things living in there. We use it to hunt and grow fungus. Today I'm going to go deeper than anyone, I think there's a rather large lake down there and we could use the fish.

In case you're wondering, topside has no wildlife. Just barren wasteland and sand.

It's not actually darker, by the way. Blue is merely fond of alliteration.

>"I'd carry you up the way you came, but..."
She mutters the light spell again, moving her head to the ceiling and shining light on a wide hole.... blocked by a large rock. The one you dislodged earlier in your fall, appaerently.

I can seal wounds with magical fire, but it hurts like a bitch and is only useful for bleeding wounds. Some legendary Fire specialists have been able to ignite 'their inner fire' and speed up their natral healing rates to truly absurd levels, but I cannot. I can, however, set the bone.

No... The true evil is not the parts, it's the artificial soul within. I can blow off their limbs, crush their metallic skulls, render them no more than scrap... but if that peice remains, the evil lives on.
If I am to rid the owrld of their taint, I will keep this leg and soldier on, keeping at the top of my current potential. I WILL find the Nameless man.
