(Doesn't white give a bonus to assimilation? This could be a problem. Time to pray to the RNG)

Retreat and eat some stray pixels, with two yellow you should be faster than him.

Indeed they do give a bonus to assimilation. If assimilating someone can be accomplished with a touch, and our higher-resolution black pixels are easier to absorb than an equivalent number of lower-resolution pixels, we're basically boned. If it takes more contact or a lot of time, we should be able to launch a rapid assault and tear him up long before he can absorb us. With only black and white pixels he should be slow to reconfigure and follow, so we can keep him at range, striking repeatedly and healing much faster than he can.

Yeah, we should be able to just hit-and-run him into oblivion.

Che.

I had forgotten about the assimilation boost to white pixels.

I back away, remixing my image to prepare for a ranged strike, even as I take a moment to absorb a stray pixel, my improved speed showing it's worth immediately.

"Hey guy,"

The once cornered one speaks, inturrupting my focus.

"Thanks for your help, If I ally with you, do you think you could help me take these guys out? I don't need any spoils, just help"

Hmmmm, what should I do?
>>

He has a total of 25 pixels, 12 of which are white pixels, assuming a +1 bonus for each white, he's got a total difficulty of 37.
We currently have a total of 36 pixels, currently I would not recommend challenging him. If we punch him in the black pixels before we try to assimilate him we will have a much greater chance of success.
I recommend we hit him once, then retreat and grab that one spawned pixel behind us before we go for the assimilation role.

I kinda like this guy, even if only because he's the underdog here. He took a risk to strike back, took advantage of our distraction, seems pretty clever.

However, at the same time, this is pretty risky. Not sure we can take this guy and win. Tempted to say we should suggest simply running away to the little tyke (Assuming he can flee across borders), albiet with us accompanying him. If we don't do that, I say we take advantage of the fact we have a ton of blacks, and spread them out to counter his assimilate attempt a little, do hit and run attacks, take advantage of our superior speed and control.

...Also, what the hell is coming onto the board from the 'north'?
>>
No. 245228 ID: d3dfb8

rolled 9 = 9

You can have that little one, this big one is mine. Playing field should be even with that one black we picked up, and with the awesomeness that is lvl2 blacks GO FOR THE ASSIMILATE!

...How the hell do we keep getting rolls this GOOD?
>>
No. 245253 ID: fba40f

>>245228
We can't assimilate quite yet, you need to be larger than the target. We're even right now, so ideally we should get 4-5 more pixels before trying to assimilate.

No. 245255 ID: d3dfb8

>>245253

Are you really going to argue with that roll?
>>
No. 245261 ID: fba40f

>>245255
At the start when we assimilated that one guy:
> roll = 10 + 3 >10
So the equation is:
roll = [1d10] + [size over target] >10
Since 10+0 is not greater than 10, [size over target] must be greater than zero.

"Ok kid, you take care of tiny over there, I got big ugly"

"Thanks"

[roll = 9 + 0 = 9 <10]
[Fail]

I move towards checkers, whipping out my black pixels in an attempt to surround him... and his image... smiles?

[Resolution Bonus]
[Black Pixels - Lv2]
[Resolution over enemy = 2-1 = 1]
[(25-13)*1 = 12]
[roll = 9 + 0 + 12 <10]
[Success]

As I begin my assimilation, a ripple of shock runs through my enemies focus.

"What? But! That's impossible! The res-"

A few moments pass as I observe the newcomer, still not fully on this sheet.

"Heheheheh, HEHEHEHEHHEHEHEH! You might want to get the hell out of here little one"

I can feel her fear, blasting off her in waves

"N-No, we made an ag-agreement and I plan to s-stick by it. Shirley Magnum ain't no lair."

That's adorable, and we should keep her. Advise her to pick up two more of the free-floating pixels for the size bonus. We should pick up two more as well; we're almost at 64.

In the meantime, begin preparing our own retreat. We know when we're outgunned.
>>
No. 245337 ID: 644ca1

We can't beat it, but we could buy some time for our new ally to escape.

Before escaping ourselves of course.

"Very noble, Shirley Magnum. Right then, then we'll simply -both- go and RUN FOR YOUR FUCKING LIVES GOGOGOGOGO!" Then run like hell (Maybe not south, since we'd simply be prolonging the inevitable. Maybe give Shirley a few pixels so the brave little tyke will survive moving to a new screen (From your comments before, I presume you can lose pixels from such an action.)

...Also, where did that 2x2 black pixel image disappear off to?
>>
No. 245341 ID: b14128

>>245340
Shirley took blocky out in that short a time? Impressive. However, suggest to the tyke to try assimilating more, though, 'cause otherwise good pixels are put to waste.

IDONNTTHINKTHATSGALAGA

"That's very noble of you Shirley, guess there is only on thing to do now..."

He focus rapidly shifts between me and the incoming giant, a mix of fear and honour pervading her image.

"RUN!"

Shirley takes off towards the southern border, he focus divided between salvation and myself as she waits for me to follow.

As I lumber along, weighed down by my extra size, I pause to consider grabbing a few of the extra pixels before I continue my flight.

Should I stop for a snack?
Or should I flee with Shirley?
Or do something else entirely.
>>
No. 245346 ID: 0cfe8b

Now is probably not the time for snacking, since their are only gray pixels around.
Rearrange yourself for speed and run.

Eh, just get out of here. Forgot how annoyingly slow you'd be after absorbing all that; you're getting pretty huge. is there any way to upgrade the resolution of all your other pixels, short of sinking every single upgrade that you get from now to forever into collapsing them one at a time?

Just get the hell out of dodge.
>>
No. 245350 ID: 1854db

Run dammit. Boost white pixel resolution if you can to make yourself a little quicker.

Or you could just ditch some black pixels.
>>
No. 245351 ID: b14128

Agreeeing with operation 'RUNNING THE FUCK AWAY -NOW-'. Almost tempted to suggest you dump some chaft and drop some pixels so you can move faster. Definitely burn some of those pixels to upgrade resolution if you can.

No. 245355 ID: 6b8417

Right, voting for dumping pixels until we can move faster, we don't need all this stuff. Star Destroyer is catching up, and we need to GTFO.

...Also, any idea why Star Destroyer's pixels are all dark like that? Even the reds and blues are darker.

No. 245364 ID: 6b8417

[That's because he is still coming onto the sheet. People leaving and people coming are darker, free pixels are lighter.
