This is a mechanics change. The Soul-Sacrifice system is being replaced by a karma system:
Karma builds slowly (160 points worth of karma since the beginning of Hatquest) and can only be used to influence dice. When used, all Karma is consumed.
The next two rolls are 60/100 and 99/100. We are allowed to combine them into one roll of 159/100. Applying our Karma to it brings the to-hit number down to -1/100.
