I run down, and ask for an audience with Raven. She meets me some time later in another form, just outside town.
"Don't worry about the corrution too much. The demon was only referring to the fact that Legion is unique. The human being is made of three equally important parts. The body, which houses the other two and realizes their desires. The soul, which is the central persona of a person, which decides what it wants to do. and the mind, which decides how the goals are fulfilled." she says. "Demons inhabit the Soul of a person, changing their very goals in life, and corrupt their body, slowly changing them into a pure Demon over time. However... No demon can touch the Mind."
"Why?"
"The haven't got one. They only have a Soul. Sometimes a body, too, in their own realm, or if they are strong enough to create a body from their own essence here. Now, this would usually make them seem insane, but Demons are so singular of purpose and desire that it could be said they don't even need a Mind."
"So how is Legion unique?"
"Legion is a Mind, not a soul. It posses the mind, and changes the soul ever so slightly while helping the host make decisions. These changes are subtle, but rarely are they anything the host actively wishes to avoid. For instance, without Legion's intervention, Hattori would have murdered Coyote, taken his Raiment, and ruled the world with an iron fist. In time, he would have killed Achilles, who would grow to become a power to rival him. Due to Legion's intervention, however, he realized that even a creature without a Soul can still love, and abandoned his evil to save the world selflessly. Understand?"
