>A, Julia
You quell your unease and wander through the house until you find Julia making bacon at the stove with Yen.

Julia: Beck! It’s been a while, your grindset lifestyle has denied me of your presence.
Beck: Yeah, work kind of wipes me out.
Julia: I’m flattered that you deign me with your immaculate moral center. Have some bacon and toast.

You gratefully accept the food and make small-talk with Julia. She’ll be gone this coming Thursday for another tournament in Florida and hopes to redeem her 3rd place finish from last weekend. Yen addresses Julia a few times with questions about her flight and hotel, but otherwise ignores you.

Beck: I have free time today, can we play Battle Animals?
Julia: Absolutely. Put some of those leet gamer instincts into getting good.

You get your ass beat even worse this time. Julia finally brings out her main, the light blue fish Carl who has some kind of fighting game true input nonsense that doubles the power of all his moves at the cost of some self-damage. You get killed off combos enough times that you almost feel like rage-quiting.

Your mental health can take a hit, you need that friendship and you’ll be a better gamer if you keep playing! Julia is a pro, no shit you’re going to get beat, the important thing is staying calm and taking her advice without throwing the controller.

After another hour of not being allowed to play the game, Yen finally complains that she took a day off work for summer fun, not watching her girlfriend bully people.

To your surprise, Julia invites you to the mall for a rich lunch of Americanized dim sum. Yen drives, thankfully, and after the food goes shopping for a few cute outfits while you look around the store politely.

Julia doesn’t seem like a big clothes shopper either, which provides ample opportunity for gossip.

Beck: I’ve talked with Steven a couple times in the last week. He mentioned he’s trying to get out of streaming.
Julia: Oh really?
Beck: You didn’t know?
Julia: I see the guy once every month can you blame me? I know he has a massive self-hatred complex and depression and is bi but I’m not up to date on his dreams and aspirations. Yen’s not an engineer but she could probably help him get a desk job at her investment firm, if he asks, which he won’t because he’s deathly afraid of talking to us.
Beck: Why?
Julia: I dunno, the guy’s been stuck in his head for so long playing baby games in his room that he’s convinced himself we hate him or something. Wack shit. Since you’re new he probably hasn’t managed to psyche himself out of interacting with you yet.

A day of spending time with Julia has rubbed off in all the wrong ways. You strike a gangly pose against the doorframe, all elbows and sharp joints, and fix a massive grin on your face. Steven looks visibly disturbed and you arrange yourself into a more presentable approach state.

Beck: Sorry, uh, don’t know what got into me there. I have a question about this lever stuff, do you mind pointing me in the right direction?

Steven nods and you show him your scratch work. He quickly sets you straight.

Before Steven can respond, you hear a huff from the hallway. You turn to see Wyatt poking his head out of his room, drawn out by the conversation. He glares at you with a mix of dislike and…jealousy?

Wyatt: You really believe that crap, Steven? Yen and Julia are just messing with you.
Wyatt: Remember when I first moved in and Yen told me this wasn’t the right house and I went around the whole block with my luggage before I realized? They’re a pair of b—jerks. Beck here just hasn’t learned that yet.

Steven quickly retreats without another word and you’re left to stew in bed, incensed.

You spot Wyatt coming out of the shower the next morning and take a swing at him. You don’t use your full strength and aim for his cheek. He yelps and staggers into the wall, almost dropping his towel.

Wyatt: What the FUCK? Get away from me!
Beck: Stop being an asshole, then. I was trying to help Steven yesterday when you interrupted and scared him away.

No. 1039586 ID: e51896

Normally I'd step down, but I feel like making drama happen

Lets keep this drama going and continue this argument! Defend yourself and help Stephen!

Tell him you'd rather not get to know Wyatt better after what he did and explain that you were only trying to help Steven gain some confidence and sort some kind of job with him when stupid little Wyatt had to butt in like the asshole he is and discourage Steven from getting a job from Yen, telling him that Yen and Julia would just lie and mess with him, and reject him from getting a job as a prank, and now you don't know if Stephen is going to have the confidence to get a job from her, or worse from others as a result as Wyatt might have lowered Steven's confidence even more from Wyatt's interaction.

get angry and yell if you need to! this is for Steven!
No. 1039590 ID: 2ca3ce

You shouldnt yell, instead, you should admit that it was a heat of the moment dick move, but you should double down and explain the reason behind the action.

That continual beratement of another individual in the house is a form of abuse, psychological. That while there is a difference between what you did and what he did, you don't want someone shit talking every action you do.

Is everyone in the house okay with Wyatt lying about yen/julia's offer, claiming that she'd do this just as a prank to hurt him?

Is everyone okay with his casual mispronouning?

He just wanders in and shit talks someone immediately and no one stands up to the action. Why does that kind of action, something that would get HR called in at any job, not warrant a house meeting and discussion and this instead does?

Be willing to accept blame or even punishment, but only if Wyatt is treated to the same standards.
No. 1039594 ID: 629f2e

Alright, for your part admit that it was a dick move and apologize. You got heated, simmered on that anger for a bit too long, and caught the dude by surprise. Unfair to him, that's totally on you, sorry.

But you really need to address the fact that Wyatt is a terrible housemate. Like, everyone else has made some effort to get to know you to some degree. You wouldn't think poorly of him if he didn't want to, not everyone who shares a roof has to be close friends, but so far you've only had unprompted negative interactions with him. He knowingly misgenders you, he talks shit about everyone, and your approach of leaving him to his own devices hasn't worked out because he is the one who keeps butting in and starting shit you didn't ask for.

You don't like him. You'd be happy to pretend he doesn't exist if he let you, or even to be friendly if he'd just tone it down a little. Like, if he would put in enough effort to just get your pronouns right.

>Stand up for yourself
You wait for Wyatt to leave before making your defense to Zach and Julia.

Beck: Okay, it was a dick move for me to sucker punch him, I’m sorry and I won’t do it again.
Zach: Great!
Beck: But I don’t want to know Wyatt better, every interaction I’ve had with him has been negative and he just seems like an unpleasant person. He’s still misgendering me, he told Steven that Yen was lying about her job offer which totally discouraged him, and he’s constantly talking shit to all of you!
Julia: Oh yeah, Yen and Wyatt have had beef ever since she told him this was the wrong house when he moved in and he walked around the block with all his luggage. Classic. She’s not lying about the job offer though.
Zach: Sorry about the pronouns, I’ll have a talk with him. It’s perfectly reasonable that you don’t want to interact with him, it took me a while to get used to it, Wyatt has a...strong personality.
Julia: And a whole lotta perceived wrongs against him. You know, he’d be a lot more relaxed if he finally got over his internalized homophobia and sucked a dick—
Zach: Aw c’mon Julia, not that again.

You’re not an avid hiker, but you can be convinced to take a trek into the mountains every now and then, provided someone drives.

Zach has a car and you want to know how things are going with him and Percy, so once you wait an hour or so for things to be less tense you find him and propose a half-day trip. 1: Goal should just be to hit 1.0 Education by the end of the quest, that seems pretty achievable. Study again, but try to make it fun! Give yourself a hypothetical engineering scenario, like building a game console or something, I dunno what engineers do. Just choose something that interests you, and go at it, researching whenever you run into a wall. The shake-up may help you learn better.

2: Play that game you play with Julia online, honing your skills for when she gets back.

Activity 1: >>1040076
I agree with step one of this.

As for Activity 2... Well, if you manage to complete your education, get Steven to celebrate it with! He's the only not-Wyatt main housemate we haven't gotten to Friendship 1 yet.

If Wyatt, for whatever reason, wants to bug you during all this (or Steven celebrating your achievement is a bonus to Activity 1 and doesn't count), cut him off as fast as you can with a "sorry I punched you, dude; I admit that was uncalled for." Short-circuits what he was going to do AND extends an olive branch... kinda. Look, there's nothing wrong with not wanting to be friends with him, but we want to be at the very least on neutral terms with all the people we're gonna be living with for the foreseeable future.

And if he refuses the apology... Offer to fight it out. Like, actually fight it out; like real gamers. "Name a game. Any game... that we can feasibly play today without spending more than 30 bucks." (What? It's obvious this is the dude that min-maxed [GAMING] - (virtual) strength and respect is the language he best understands.)

Action 1: Hang out with Steven. Maybe you can exercise together, or play some games. Get a vibe read on him and go with something that'll be fun for you both.

Action 2: Cook dinner for everyone. Julia will have something nice to come back to (assuming this is Sunday, if it's Saturday then whatever you can toss some of it in the fridge for her to enjoy as leftovers when she gets back), Wyatt can take a portion and leave if he wants, and everyone else can join you on the couch after eating to enjoy a crappy video game movie.

Make something simple that you won't fuck up, but which the others may enjoy. Like pancakes.

>Saturday: Work out with Steven
You take the barbells that you haven’t touched since Steven gave them to you and enter Steven’s room. He lays out a clean yoga mat in the small amount of free space and then coaches you through an hour of torturous body weight exercises. If Steven were the type of person to judge, you’d be making a pathetic picture, but he mostly stays silent and does his own workout.

>Sunday: Cook dinner for Zach, Percy, and Steven
You’re exhausted and sore but you want to show your appreciation for your housemates. Julia is still gone and you don’t have much hop of inviting Yen over, which is fine. You sweat over a vegetarian feast that’s even enough to draw Steven out of his room. You’re surprised to see that he gets along swimmingly with Percy, though he still seems timid around Zach. Everyone helps you clean up after they’re done eating.
