There really isn't that much to do on the night shift, but sometimes customers will come in with ridiculous requests, and you usually get in trouble by your manager if you refuse.

A customer walks in now.
"Uh, hey. Can I get 8 copies of yesterday's newspaper?"

sigh

You know you don't have any up front, because why would you? But you do remember seeing a bunch of old newspapers in the backroom a while back.

Your break is also in 15 minutes and you don't really want to dig around in the backroom right now.

How do you handle this?
>>
No. 980520 ID: 96e04f

Tell him that back-issue newspapers are for paying customers only.

Is your manager around? If not just say you're flat out, maybe you can interest him in a slurpee instead? Or some Taquitos?
>>

just get it, he probably had to go through a lot of turmoil just to get here

...Actually, we donate to a local animal shelter, and aren't supposed to sell them postdate.

Well someone's gonna have to man the counter while you go to the back room.
Ask the manager to cover you while you do it. How long could it possibly take to find some old newspapers?
>>

How could getting those old newspapers be less boring than standing here all night? Go waste time on a dumb request, assuming someone can man the counter while you’re in there. If not, bullshit the customer around a bit and ask him why he wants it.

>>980523 No, the manager goes home at a reasonable time. Its just you until clocking out time.

You mumble out a quick " Sorry, manager is for back-issue animal shelter customers only", or something. you shrug.

Dissatisfied with this turn of events, the customer begins to phase out of existence.

This time you were lucky, but you remember that next time if there is a particularly difficult customer, you could always offer them a Slurpee to get them to leave.
Though unfortunately, the Slurpee machine is almost out, and you have enough for only five Slurpees

With the customer gone, you figure you should use your down time to get started on your list of tasks that must be finished before you clock out of your shift.

mopping and trash can wait until near the end of the shift, you never know if a customer might slip on the wet floor or get the floor dirty again. and you might get more trash later.later.

Resnacking is important, but can probably wait until the middle of the shift, resnacking it too soon might mean you have to resnack it again later, but we can't also risk having it run empty if we wait too long. D. Jones is currently held hostage at the arcade, so cleaning his locker can also wait until midshift, he might be able to find a way to escape around that time.

refilling bottomless coke machine will take a long time, so that is something to be done asap, as well as de-ghosting the bathroom, can't risk having customers get scared and suing you after all. and working on that ancientorder is also a top priorty seeing as that order has been waiting to get done for a very very long time.

I'd say get rid of those ghosts in the bathroom first. If it is possible to refill the coke machine and let it refill without you observing it since filling a bottomless coke machine takes literally forever, start getting it refilled before hunting ghosts so that it can refill while you get those ghosts out

De-ghost the bathroom first, you might need it yourself later so its important to keep the facilities clean
>>

It depends; are the bottomless coke machine and snack aisle dangerously low?

If so, deal with them first - that'll be lost revenue and additional annoyed customers otherwise.

If not, de-ghost that bathroom.

You check on the snack aisle.
The snacks seem to be pretty full, so there's no point in refilling it now

However, as the name implies, the bottomless coke machine has no bottom, so trying to refill it right now will take an infinite amount of time. Better look around to find the bottom to this thing at some point.

You feel that de-ghosting the bathroom might be the easiest task right now, though you've never actually done it yourself before.

You head to the bathrooms.
Its the men's bathroom that is ghosted, so you head into that one.

There's a whole bunch of ghosts in here, just goofing off and loitering. They're not really causing too much trouble but they're sort of scaring off other customers from using the bathrooms. How can you get these fellas to leave?

Lure them into a toilet and flush them.

I heard a perky Goth girl moved in two blocks away, why don't you guys go check it out?
>>
No. 983035 ID: e51896

Ask "Ew, okay, who the hell didn't flush in here? It smells so bad!" That should gross out at least some of the ghosts enough to leave to avoid the stench without much trouble (even if there was no stench).
>>

Just ask them to leave politely.
