The Age of Gastronomy. An era when those whose culinary genius transcends the word 'cook' would be known as chefs. They would travel the world in search of legendary monsters to turn into legendary ingredients. Frequently pitting themselves against each other, they push themselves and each other beyond their former limits of creativity and technique in competition. All in search of their own "Divine Menu," as petitioned by some otherworldly patrons.

:boy_impatient: "Are you ready? I'm not gonna lose this time!"
:girl_bored: "… Are we really doing this now?"

The day when that quest will be issued is still some years out, however. The very beginning of these two young Chefs' journeys may serve as a prologue. An appetizer, you could say.

:boy_impatient: "Don't think you can chicken out of this! I may have started apprenticing with the old man, but I make sure I'm done extra early for you!"
:MrFischer_mad: "Who's an old man?"
:boy_queasy: "Ack- Grandpa!"
:girl_bored: "… I've started apprenticing, too."
:boy_impatient: "I- I know that! How're you and Mrs. Baker still baking after I caught all those fish? 'You training to take over your dad's eatery too or something?"
:girl_bored: "That was the plan, yeah…"
:MrsBaker: "Oh, I can finish up here for today, deary! Your father won't be here to open the eatery for some hours; plenty of time for you to go and play with Mr. Fischer's boy."
:boy_impatient: "Awesome! I'll even let you pick the challenge this time! Climbing? Swimming? Ooh, ooh, an eating contest! No matter what you pick, I'm gonna win this time!"
:girl_annoyed: "Good grief…"

Ah, the rambunctiousness of youth. The girl would soon decide upon a challenge that didn't require her absence from her parents' kitchen - one that the pair would return to frequently, and that would soon shape the course of their lives. Alas, the two children's given names are yet unknown to us: why don't you take a guess at them?
