That... is a horrible password and some hacker will screw you both over quickly.

Find a random book, use telekinesis on a marker to highlight a random string of words, then use that as your password. Easy to remember hard to brute-force. You can bribe the Manager by holding the book hostage.

Horrible password? Nonsense, it would take at least 80000 attempts to figure it out by brute force.

'Come pick up your dudes' and a photo of a person moving boxes, and our Tenant looks like the 'manual labor' type... Is our tenant associated with a moving company maybe?

The third photo claims it was cropped, and in its corner we can see someone whos hair is shaggy looking, like the Tenant does.

Clearly, Bookie had a bad fallout with our Tenant (enough to crop them out of a larger picture) and liked Danny. But Danny (the person our Tenant seems obsessed with) then ghosted (as in, ignored them / cut off contact) them afterwards.

Danny is in our Tenants sights either because they want to hurt them (for breaking up / emotionally harming Bookie, maybe?), or because they have a 'creepy-bad' stalker romance for them, and might hurt Bookie instead or anyone currently romantically associated with Danny. Or hurt Danny/himself in some self-destructive act of love.

Agreed on this. She likely knows more about how living peoples relationships work, as well as can use her magic (or social deduction skills) to learn more, if not help act before a tragedy occurs.

Make a mental snapshot of the pictures so you can, uh, ghost-project them to the lady later? Shape yourself into them? Is that something you can do?

>Passwords

You don't see where you went wrong with your password idea, but you acknowledge that trying to crack it might be too much for the Apartment Manager to handle against your amazing boo-mind. Instead, you create a few text files spelling out your boo-grievances and hide the real password inside. He'll never guess that the highlighted numbers inside formed the REAL password all along!

If he can't figure that out either, you also write the password down on a stickynote and stick it to the monitor. Now that will really confuse him!

As a bonus, you confidently send these password pointers via DM to Leemon5, thanking them for their account access while suggesting a few new and improved passwords. Like passboo.

>check the Manager's browsing history before you log out

You check the browsing history and see many results for "baras", which sounds like a kind of animal! Out of curiosity, you click the first result, which opens up to "Oiled Up Baras 24/7 Livestream"...

You watch a couple shiny guys walk around onscreen for a few minutes. Wait. There's no capybaras here!

You exit the tab and shake your head at the false advertising.

>Danny

Now that you think about it.... There's a phantom around that goes by that name.

Right-o! Miss Syven surely knows more about how living people relationships work and would have good insight.

>Make a mental snapshot of the pictures so you can, uh, ghost-project them to the lady later? Shape yourself into them? Is that something you can do?

Why of course, recreating images is a ghostly staple.

As you exit the Leasing Office, you say your goodbyes to Jet the Plant and cross through your target's apartmet, just to see how that guy's doing.

As you look around, you don't feel his presence at all... Must have gone out for groceries.

He better be back in time for your plan!

Dramatically present all the evidence (including the hunk poster and the bara livestream) and go into a Sherlock/Watson discussion on the case with the Psychic (she can be Sherlock).

Mr. Depressed can act as the 'unbiased third party with common sense', Occams Razor, or 'innocent child who doesn't know much but makes a very good point' to stop things going off the rails.

Ask if Mr. Depressed has/prefers a new name, as they're hopefully no longer depressed and could use a nicer sounding one.

>First, have a short conversation with Miss Syven.

Oh ghost! Where are your manners? Surely, if you're a boo-tective that will lay awake at night drawing red yarn between photos of slightly acquianted people and scribbling things like HE DID IT and LEAD DEAD, you must not forget the importance of common courtesy.

"Miss Syven, I must apologize for my interruption. I understand you're having a nice morning feast while being provided live entertainment." You clear your non-existent throat. "What are you eating? And watching?"

Syven giggles. "It's all good, Booster. Just havin' cinnamon crunchies and milk with an old classic."

You lean over to inspect the funny video. What you may describe as two fantastical figures have a very serious and important discussion about dinner. So important, that the screen cuts and repeats certain clips followed by random sound effects.

You nod along as if you understand. "Fascinating."

"Indeed."

"How did your date go, Miss Syven?"

Syven pauses the video. "It was good! She showed me her gunpla collection and we had a nice talk about it after." She giggles a bit to herself. "I don't know if she's polycule dating material just yet, maybe after another talk."

"It's good to talk and get to know one another." You nod seriously. "What's a gun play?"

"That's a different thing, but they're figurines."

How cool!

"You're looking real spiffy with your new groom and bow, Mister Depressed! Or whatever you want to be now?"

"Oh, um..." Mister Depressed looks shy at the sudden attention. "Actually, I think I'm a girl rat now..."

You gasp. "Does this mean you're a new rat?"

"Yeah.... I think.. I think I'm content now..." She shuffles on her paws, looking down. "For the longest time, I felt like there was something really wrong with me. And that.. That maybe when I got older, it would start to go away.. But that never happened. It just stayed with me and grew so much.. Until everyone could see it, even if they never said anything... So I just got used to being a lone sewer rat, hiding in the dark so no one ever had to see me."

"That sounds really sad." You give her your biggest sympathetic eyes.

"Yeah, I was really sad... We don't really have genders either, so I didn't know I could be something else." She shrugs. "Then the other rodents introduced me to HRAT."

"That sounds great!"

>Present Evidence

Time to get into the meat!

"Ehem! Upon further investigation into my target, now known as Jason, I have gathered a strapping amount of evidence, circumstantial and not, that are either connected to or mean things!"

Syven nods attentively as you dive into your findings for today:

Your Target
>Has no job
>Has money
>Is weird
>Moved in quickly
>Has an ex friend?/lover?
>Very jealous of someone living here
>Not home yet (gone this morning?)

The Ex Friend/Lover (Bookie)
>Moved here or nearby months ago
>Deleted all evidence of their relationship w/ Jason for unknown reasons
>Seeing someone that lives here
>Frequents Latte Lots
>Got ghosted
>Photographer

Apartment Manager
>Likes them hunky
>Your sworn enemy
>Contract smart

Danny
>Phantom

Mapa
>Mapa

Once finished, you narrow your eyes and gesture dramatically, "But what could it all mean?!"

"Maybe Jason just wants to win Bookie back in some human way we can't understand? It sounds like they were together for a long time." Miss Content says. "Now he's here to size up his competition while getting close to Bookie physically."

"A plausible hypothesis!"

"You found Bookie on binsta, right? What was the handle again?" Syven takes out her phone and proceeds to look up Bookie. She finds the profile, reads it, then taps request follow.

"Woah! I didn't know you had a binsta, Miss Syven." You admire her resourcefulness. "What can your psychic third eye glean from the suspect?"

"I use it to advertise." she chuckles then closes her eyes. "Anyway, going off of your account and his profile here... I'm getting blues and browns, lots of anxiety, uncertainty, but also bursting with a need for stability. He's someone trying really hard to be his own person, while trying to capture everything around him."

Woah! What an awe inspiring reading!

"So what does that mean? How does he feel about Jason?"

Syven opens her eyes. "He's like a little baby deer running away from his past. I'm getting small town. Whatever he had with Jason, it's over."

"Ohhh. What about Danny?"

"Can't fully say, even based on your ghost image, all I get is static." She shrugs.

Oh well!

Syven eventually leans back, "Based upon the evidence you've presented to me Boo... There's only one thing I can think of that all of this leads to.."

You lean on the edge of your desk.

"Jason's not here for Bookie, Jason's here for this mystery third person. Maybe it's to get back at Bookie, maybe it's for some other reason that we don't know yet. But definitely.... He's here as a love rival. Mister Steal Your Man."

You gasp.

"I don't think that's...." Miss Content starts to speak.

"I don't know about you, Boo, but I haven't seen Bookie around here. If he's been here, he was visiting when I wasn't present. If he was a resident, trust, I would've met him by now. So that could only mean that this Wishbone guy is our real true suspect."

Second gasp!

"So Jason's here to steal Wishbone away from Bookie? To announce himself as a love rival after Bookie broke his heart?"

"Yup. Draaamaa." Syven does a set of jazz hands. "Dude's here to commit to some mad seduction."

Woah, just like in the TV shows!

"Then why have all the photos... " Miss Content trails off.

"To remind himself of who he's fighting against!" It all makes sense!

"Though, I guess I'll know more once I meet the guy." Syven says as she mulls thoughtfully. "Maybe I should stop by Latte Lots across the street first."

Well, capturimg everything around him sounds pretty accurate for a photographer.

Though it does bring to mind another ostensibly ghost-related thing - spectral photography. Can ghosts be 'caught' on camera, or can magical cameras be used to trap spirits/souls/creatures in the images?

Ah, yes. The weakness of all spectral beings... The camera. It only works for instant cameras, but if you're not careful, you could get trapped in a photo forever!

>Talk to Danny

You'll have to find the guy in this big complex! Maybe Mapa would know?

>Keep Syven Away from Jason

Whaaat. But... The plan! Who knows what juicy morsels of information Jason might be hiding in his noggin, just waiting for Syven to pluck....

However, you are a good ghost that plays by the rules of manners and will consider every possibility presented to your ghostly noggin!

"Hmm.. Miss Syven, I'm getting some psychic signals here! It might not be a good idea for you to meet Jason anymore. He's kinda a creepy weirdo."

Syven chuckles. "Boo, not every person that's creepy is a bad person. Trust me, I've read a lot of gothic literature."

Can't argue with an expert!

"Oh okay. Yay!"

Syven moves towards the window after setting down her now empty bowl. "Now that I think about it, I should be able to see that place from my window too."

She pulls the curtain, revealing the titular Latte Lots down the street. The location of interest confirmed!

Syven keeps trailing off, seeming more nervous by the second. It's an odd sight. You've never seen Syven so nervous before! Not even around the other poltergeists.

The ghosts that have been hanging around silently start to move things, responding to Syven's agitation.

"I don't understand, Miss Syven. What did you see?"

Syven pauses and takes a deep breath. Her tone is gentle once again. "... A lot of red and pink and yellow. Passion. Very clear passion. Obsession. A lurker in the undergrowth that's been--"

If your ghost rules allow for it, float through the wall (or poke only your head/eyes through, if you can) and just look who's behind the door.

Let Sylven call / open if they're acting normal, but have pepper spray ready in case they get hostile. Or you can prepare some ghost telekinesis (e.g. a blanket over his head) to chase him away with if he's clearly getting hostile.

They might be interested in getting a psychic reading or to genuinely meet his new neighbors - after all, she does advertise as one.

The other possibility is they noticed the follow on binsta and are suspicious of it.

If it is Jason, we could have Miss Sylven play out her psychic cards flat out to unnerve him. Knowing his name in advance and some of his details, pretending she was expecting him, to show off she's the real deal. And then ask if he wants a psychic reading/romantic advice, or is just there to introduce himself as a new neighbor.

For yourself, it might be wise to hide in/as an object - maybe he's able to actually see you. Or you could be brazen about it and see if he is distracted by your presence while talking to miss Sylven.

Side question: If the tenant leaves the apartment indirectly due to your activities (e.g. gets reported by another tenant for criminal activities and gets arrested/evicted) or abandons the apartment for reasons unrelated to haunting, is that a failure for you or a success by technicality?
>>
No. 1133272 ID: 94e2ef

Hmm, a potential way to scare Jason comes to mind. If they're a creepy, stalky type of person, make it seem like the target of his obsession is hunted (or protected) by something much worse/more powerful than him.

E.g. a haunting that makes it seem like a demonic entity already has claim to them (and don't want a mortal taking their prey), or a biblically accurate angel is actively protecting and watching them.

So you could, say replace all their photos on their photo wall with a cryptic 'They are mine' message. Or put a bunch of eye drawings in their place.

Another possibilty to scare them could be faking a message from the manager that their rent is overdue/the payment did not process, making them panic and flee the apartment due to thinking they voided their contract.
>>

So long as they're scared when they leave, that's a win for you! All other reasons that they leave that are unrelated to your haunting means that you aren't graded. Which would be soooo anticlimatic.

>Since you are paper thin, you can technically apply yourself like wallpaper to the outer wall of the apartment without leaving the apartment complex.

Oh, right! How creative. You phase yourself through the window, basically possessing it as you take up its space. It looks like it's Jason outside Syven's door, the drink tray in hand and that big bag over his shoulders. Looks heavy!

>Imitate gunshots

Like the guns on the TV shows? Yeah, you can imitate that!

"Pew! Pew-pew! Bang!" You do your best impression of gunshots from the window. Real freaky stuff.

.... No reaction. Of course!

>Fake Rent bouncing

"OoooOoo your rent didn't go through today ooOooOoo."

"......"

Jason moves to check his phone... Another ungrateful reaction to your choice scare tactic!

>Check expression

"How's it looking, Boo?"

"It's Jason! He looks passive, ungrateful, and friendly." You call from the window. "Maybe he's here for a psychic reading? Or to introduce himself? It would be the first polite thing he's done."

Oh actually... that makes sense. He was looking through the windows to see if anyone was approachable. He probably thinks women are safer to approach, or more easily manipulated.

Well, it's probably no immediate danger to let him in, but later on when things don't work out for him, he might be looking for someone to blame... Of course, refusing to let him in has its own implications that he might use to blame Syven later too! So there's no winning move!

Just let him in, at least we can get info that way.

No. 1133316 ID: d8f522

Well, the big concerns here are whether the drinks are spiked (common creep/predator tactic), and why he's wearing a camping backpack that could fit a whole persons body in it.

He's also... Concealing his face with the drinks from the peephole, as if he doesn't want the psychic to see his face.

He's also likely aware that a ghost is haunting/pranking him but careful but not too worried about it.

No harm in opening/greeting him, though question his choice of baggage (is he going hiking?), and accept but don't drink the offered drinks (claim 'you just ate' if need be) until he has left. Or accept them and you as a ghost can spill them as a 'scare' to make it seem like you're haunting the psychic too, if he's creepy about insisting on tje drinks.

"Hey there, I can go for a drink. Maybe the hot coco?" Syven smiles back politely.

He nods and goes to hand her the drink at the front while Syven adjusts Miss Content, who's now sitting on her shoulder.

Syven takes the drink and looks it over, searching for something. His eyes track her movements sharply.

"I'm Jay. Cool rat, by the way."

"Thanks, just got her." Syven holds the offered drink to her chest, but does not partake. "I go by Syven."

"Syven! Cool. Um... Know it can be kinda weird to accept stuff from strangers, I just didn't want to come by empty handed." He rubs his neck sheepishly. "Drink it, throw it away, whatever you want. I have some mini powdered donuts too."

"Oh, you didn't have to--"

Jay takes a baggie out of a dufflebag pocket, the Latte Lots logo emblazoned on it. Before Syven can react, he holds it out in front of her.

"Thanks..." Syven takes the donuts. Both her hands are full now.

"Ask about the bag." You whisper to her.

"Did you just move in, Jay? You've got a pretty big bag on."

"Yeah! Moved in yesterday. Still had some stuff at the old place, so I got them this mornin'." He pats the bag. "Being a hiker has its perks."

>Offer to Let Him In

"Should we invite him inside? Get some info?" You whisper.

"Makes sense." Syven cocks her head. "You wanna' come in or something? Have a nice neighborly chat?"

Jay quickly shakes his head. "Still busy unpacking, but I'll be free in about an hour or two. We could grab lunch? You want my number?"

"Oh, I'm..."

Discerning his aura/mood right now might help weigh the decision. Is he being genuinely shy/bashful or is there some bad mojo on him?

Also worth breaking the ice and asking if this is a date-date (in case she has to let him down softly due to incompatible sexualities) or a friendly neighbor meet.

Busy now, but not busy later. We must prepare to go TO EAR to defend her if necessary! We could get GHOST ARMOR

He looks less creepy, but still, all of this can be a mask that he is wearing to trick you. Just tell him that you have friends and that they will look for you if you disappear.

Let's give him a chance. Time to see how he interacts with other people.
