You are in no way obligated to help her. At most, she can have some bandages for her paws (assuming the bloody footprints were hers), but that's the amount of help you are offering. she can bandage herself up.

Why is she here? She was in the cave, we saw her shed fur. Is she with the poachers now?

no no no. if she's here those psychos could be hunting her down as we speak.

But, it would be great if she was far, far away. So lets hear it fox, what's your plan? Where you trying to go?

Also if you're going to be talking to her for more than a minute or two, you need to get her away from the geocache. You're probably not the only ones searching for it, and you *will* be seen with her if you stay where you are.

If you're going to do this, you also want to get her bandaged up first. The trail of fur and blood she's been leaving is very bad in her situation, and also bad for you as long as you're in her vicinity.

I'm going to say have her bandage herself up while you close up the cache, then get somewhere more secluded while you figure out what to do with her.

>Haul off on her. Say all the shit you wanted to say to her over everything that went down. The good and the bad, the worry and the anger.
>She's also not entitled to your help, after running off and leaving you to die at the bar.
Kaari: “You left us to get murdered by those assholes, and now you want our help to bail you out again! At least the others pitched in and helped us escape, you haven’t done shit!”

Dente: “Shh-”

Kaari: “They kept dunking me under water, threatening to drown me if I didn’t tell them where you were!”

Dente: “Keep it-”

>no no no. if she's here those psychos could be hunting her down as we speak.
Kaari: “You’re probably being hunted down by that group still, aren’t you? No, screw you I am not being put into another hostage situation!”

Dente: “D-different group. I-I’ll explain later but we need to move. They might have heard you.”

> if you're going to be talking to her for more than a minute or two, you need to get her away from the geocache. You're probably not the only ones searching for it.
Lana: “Helping her or not, I agree we need to move somewhere else. Someone looking for the geocache might run into us.”

Kaari: “Fine.”

> you also want to get her bandaged up first. The trail of fur and blood she's been leaving is very bad in her situation
Lana: “Take out the first-aid kit Kaari, give her the gauze and some band-aids. That was her blood and fur we probably saw earlier today. Last thing we need is a trail for them to follow.”

I toss her some band-aids and gauzes. She hides back in the bush and patches herself up.

Dente: “This should take care of the worst of it for now…”

Lana: “Take my jacket while you’re at it. Should help you blend in with us better. Not to mention hiding in the bushes just makes a lot noise.”

She tosses her coat at Dente.

Lana: “Now let’s move back towards the mine and make a plan. We can yell for Pickford if things get dicey.”

We make a run for it, stopping outside the mine.

>lets hear it fox, what's your plan? Where you trying to go?
>Under no circumstances do you want to leave the park with Dente. That's just asking to have your car followed.
Kaari: “Where do you expect us to take you anyway? Those freaks will tail us the moment we’re seen driving off with you!”

Lana: “Kaari, keep your voice down. I know we’re pissed off, but yelling is not helping.”

She shoots a concerned look at Dente.
Lana: “I can call up the studio, if that’s what you want. Syvva and the others are worried sick about you.”

Dente: “I-I can’t even think of being in the same room as them. They probably want me dead.”

Kaari: “Then what- what do you want us to do?”

Dente: “I don’t know, take me to the hospital or something? I-I…no I don’t want to think about it.”

Lana: “Think about what?”

There’s a chill in the air as we all stand in silence.

Dente: "Please, just... just get me to the hospital.”

Lana: “Should we call an ambulance?”

Dente: “No! I-it..I-I that’s too much noise.”

Kaari: “Then get someone else--”

Lana: “Keep it down Kaari.”

Kaari: “We are not taking her with us, Lana.”

Lana: “Excuse me, who has a license? Whose car did we drive out here?”

I grumble to myself while I check my cell phone, the reception is bad but a call should go through.

Dente: “Who are you calling? You’re sending the cops after me aren’t you!”

Lana passes me the walkie-talkie,

Lana: “We’re not going to call the cops. Knowing our luck we’d get stuck between them in a shoot out with those poachers.”

Dente “Oh…they-they’re not just…never mind.”

Lana: “Alright, fine. Dente you have three options with us here. Either we call you an ambulance, call up the studio and have someone pick you up, or we can call in the park rangers to help. You got the count of three to pick something.”

Dente: “Why can’t you just-“

Lana: “One.”

I can hear her breathing heavily.

Lana: “Two.”

Her head is turning all over the place.

Lana: “Three. Kaari get someone on the phone or radio in for Judith. I’ll keep an eye on her.”

I-ugh. Great now I have to decide.

Lana: “Kaari, anyone now.”

That doesn’t help! What has her all spooked now?! I-I’m almost tempted to run into the mine but there’s not going to be reception in there.

Phone and radio are in paw, who’s getting called?

It’ll have to be the band members, they are not going to draw attention to poachers, and they might have an idea what is going on. And she needs to talk to them as painful as it is for her, might bring her back to earth

Call the park rangers. It sounded like Dente was trying to say something about the poachers, and if she knows something important, the rangers should hear it. It's their job to keep the park safe.
>>
No. 1123080 ID: 70f58a

Call the park rangers. They have enough manpower to help us immediately, and will not draw much extra attention with their movements. Tell them to bring something that can hide someone's appearance. Fur dye would work, and a chance of clothes. The plan is for the rangers to take her into custody and interview her to gather more evidence against the "poachers", escalating the situation to the local police if needed.

The rangers can obscure their actions by pretending to administer first aid to Dente for getting injured in the mines. We know it's dangerous in there.

I wouldn't involve more people than are already involved. Call the studio

Also, I think we should ask how her paws got injured before we call anyone, especially the park rangers. the Donkey Pickford said it was sharp rocks from not wearing shoes, but if she says a different reason, Pickford, or Dente could be lying, potentially meaning some if not all the park rangers might not be trustworthy if its Pickford.

Also, don't mention what Pickford said until she answers. That might influence what she answers

Im not sure who to call.
Band would take time.
Rangers are closer but authorities of any kind are going to panic dente.
Theres a small chance, very slim, of rangers being connected to something bad and while i doubt that paranoid little impulse, i cant completely leave it unacknowledged.

One thing we have to remember is dente has already been in the caves and we dont know why.

The other is, this dumbass may panic and flee into the mines the second we make the call so put on you mental running shoes.

I now notice that Lana seems worried about something nearby. We should get moving fast, no time for more questions.

I already suggested the park rangers, but when we call them, we shouldn't say too much over the radio. Tell them that our girlfriend's leg is acting up and we'd like a ride back to their station. That won't give us away to anyone listening; we'll tell them more when we have time.

I use the radio to call Judith.
Kaari: “Judith come in, this is Kaari. We’re at the mine and need a ride back, Lana’s hurt and can’t walk! O-over.”

Judith: “Copy that, this is Judith. I’ll see if I can drive by with the ranger, otherwise you might have to hang tight till I get there with a wheelchair. If things are bad, call out for Pickford. He’s a donkey that watches over the mines. Over.”

Kaari: "Yup, okay got it! Thanks-"

Lana rushes in carrying Dente,

Lana: “In the mine, now!

I let go of the radio button and follow her inside. Judith responds back, but the interference is bad.
Judith: “Come- Kar- ev- ok?”

Kaari: “I-I think so? Over.”

It’s now just pure static on the radio.

>Lana seems worried about something nearby.
Kaari: “What’s out there?”

Lana: “Not sure, but there’s a thick whiff of sap and syrup. Keep moving.”

>I think we should ask how her paws got injured
>One thing we have to remember is Dente has already been in the caves and we dont know why.
Kaari: “So was that your blood and fur we saw in here or someone else you ditched to make a getaway?”

Lana just shoots me another dirty look while Dente explains,
Dente: “N-no. A stupid rock went through my pads when-”
She’s shaking nervously,
Dente: “I had moment to book it from those thugs. Then this donkey dude bandaged me up, but I think he smelled something on me. H-he told me scram or he’d call the rangers on me.”

Lana: “What would he have smelled on you to warrant that, Dente? You need to stop hiding things from us so we can know what to expect.

Dente: “Pleeease, don’t make me think about what I’ve been through this week. J-just get me to the hospital and let the doctors handle it.

Lana stops and looks her dead in the eye.
Lana: “Calmly tell me, are drugs involved? Yes or no.”

She lets out a pathetic whimper,
Dente: “Y-yes.”

Lana: “Is there a group hunting you down?”

Dente: [small]“Y-yes.”

Lana: “Do they have guns?”

Dente: “I-I don’t know! Just like, knives and sharp tools, I…think.”

Lana: “Is this the same group from the bar?”

She quickly shakes her head,
Dente: “No no no.”

Lana pauses for a moment to think.
Lana: “Are the park rangers involved?”

Dente: “Maybe?”

Kaari: “What do you mean maybe?!”

I quickly cover my mouth as the question echoes through the mine. Lana snaps around and angrily points at my face.
Lana: “Kaari, you need to get those outbursts under control. Now. I am just as fucking pissed as you are. But-”

She pauses and points back at Dente

Lana: [small]“-drug-dealer’s-most-wanted over here has a dangerous group of criminals hunting her down.”

She turns back to me.

Lana: “Which is the same group of criminals that I am doing everything I can to make sure does not find and harm any of us.”

Lana: “So, can we please bury the hatchet here for two moments to come up with a plan?”

Why does Dente think the park rangers might be involved, and how? Everything we've seen implies they're trying to stop criminals; is there some reason we shouldn't trust them?

More broadly, how much do the people hunting Dente know about her and/or us? To escape them, we need to know how well they can predict our movements.

>drugs are involved
Ok, the endgame is to get her into rehab, and possibly police protection if she can provide any worthwhile testimony, but the police might not be particularly kind to an addict... I wonder if we care about that.
We can tell the miner in here (if we run into him) about the rehab angle. He should be amenable, since it's like a rescue thing. You know, on top of literally rescuing her from being hunted down.

In fact, we should try to go find that guy. He knows the mines, maybe with his help we can find a spot to hide until the rangers show up and scare off the poachers. If she has good reason to believe the rangers are in league with the criminals she's running from, we'll be out of low risk options. If she has a shitty reason to suspect them, then we'll try to get their help anyway.

Briefly think about burying the hatchet in dente's forehead.
I mean, youre not going to.
There isnt even a real hatchet.
But you might find the mental image cathartic.

Then quietly head deeper in.
Pickford let her go once after patching her up so you can be fairly sure that hes not on side with whoever is chasing her.
Plus, if theres anyone here whod know the mine, its him.
He may know a way to slip by them, lose them or even pop out somewhere else. If any of those are possible, hed know.

Kaari: “Not easy to keep calm right now, but yeah. Fine I can try to lay off a bit.”

Her voice gets a bit shaky, almost trembling a bit.
Lana: “Kaari, please. I…I don’t think I can manage to run any more tonight. I don’t even know if I’m going to have any fight in me if they find us.”

>Then quietly head deeper in.
>Pickford let her go once after patching her up so you can be fairly sure that hes not on side with whoever is chasing her.
>walk and talk, or whisper.
Kaari: “Let’s head in deeper and try to find Pickford. He was pretty nice to us. Maybe if we show up with Dente, he’ll be more willing to help. Or at least until Judith shows up.

Lana leads the way and keeps up with the questions,
>Why does Dente think the park rangers might be involved, and how?
Lana: “Okay, what would make you think the rangers are involved?”

Dente: “I can’t remember if some of them were using ranger uniforms as a disguise or if they really were rangers. They had park looking uniforms on.”

Lana: “Ah, shit. Alright I’m pretty sure we don’t have to worry about Judith, but that’s could cause issues if we run into any other park rangers. I need you to try and keep thinking on that, Dente.”

>More broadly, how much do the people hunting Dente know about her and/or us?
Kaari: “Maybe you could tell us more about this group? What do they even know or want from you? ”

Dente: “They know about me and…uh, that other group. They’re using that to blackmail me into helping them. O-otherwise they’re going to give away I’m here.”

Lana: “Fuck! I-alright. Do they know about us, do they know me and Kaari are here?”

Dente: “Maybe, they know some panther and rabbit chased off some asshole today.”

Dente: “Uh, thanks for that by the way. That chaos you caused helped me slip away.

Lana: “So wait, they know the group that was at the bar? Two of them are dead and the other’s sitting in prison. Are there more of them?”

She squints at Lana and acts like that’s a ridiculous question,
Dente: “They’re part of a whole cartel, what do you think? Yes! This is part of why I need to slip out of here quietly.”

She grabs Dente by the neck,
Lana: “Act like that again, and I will drag you outside by the tail, throw you at the closest object in sight, and yell for the rangers. Got it?”

Her head quickly bobs up and down.

Lana: “Good. I got more questions, but I think I see Pickford’s campsite ahead.”

Lana: “That would be our luck.”

Dente: “Maybe the poachers got him?”

Lana: “Doubtful, unless they have guns. I don’t think even two of me could take that guy down.”
Lana looks over at me,
Lana: “What do you think Kaari? Do you think we should stick around and see if Pickford comes back, or go look around for him?”

Kaari: “What if we get lost?”

Dente: “What if we get found?

Just tell them you wanted to say bye to pickford and thank him again for earlier.

Theyll lijely think their cover is working and be less likely to turn the room over and break that cover.

Kaari: “Wait, so the poachers are the ones blackmailing you, right?”

Dente: “Make sap.”

Kaari: “Why don’t you just make sap for them then?”

Dente: “Because… I don’t want to? Not to mention the other things they’re doing!”

Dente: “No! Quit asking about what they’ve done to me.”

We cautiously wait as boots quickly clunk around the cave.
A bear with a sun hat stomps into the room with us. She’s got quite the grizzly look on her face when she sees us.

Bear: “Stay where you are. What are you two hooligans sneaking around here for?”

Kaari: “Sneaking around? We were just looking to say goodbye to Pickford.”

Bear: “Hellos, goodbyes, doesn’t matter. You’re well off the public trail for the mine tours. I want the two of you out of here with me, now.”

Lana: “Even if we were given permission to be back here? We happen be pretty good friends of Pickford. Who are you anyway?”

Rosary: “Chief Ranger Rosary.”

She flashes a shiny badge at us. I try to read it, but it shines in my eyes too much to see anything.

Rosary: “Friends or not, I don’t really care. I got reports that a dangerous group has been causing issues here in the mines. Now, you can either follow me back to the station for some questions or I can detain you here and let the authorities deal with you.”

Ask if she has a radio on her.

If she claims she does, then tell her she should have known that you were told by Judith to meet with Pitchford here for Lana’s injury as we wait for Judith to ride you out of here. If she was a chief ranger and it was a problem, she as chief ranger should have responded to the radio call saying we shouldn’t do that, and we wouldn’t be in this situation to begin with.

If she doesn’t have a radio, ask why not?

Regardless of how she responds, tell her you’d rather wait for Judith or Pitchford to get you out.

Kaari: “Okay, instead of shining your badge in my face. Can you just let me read it?”

She pulls it out again, and holds it steady. Still shines in my face a bit, but at least I can make it out.

Kaari: “H.P.N.T: Chief Ranger.”

I have no idea how to tell if her badge is real or not. If I get the chance, I can radio that in to Judith to verify.

>Ask if she has a radio on her.
Kaari: “Do you have a radio on you, Chief Ranger Rosary?”

Rosary: “Yes. Why do you ask?”

Kaari: “Just a few moments ago, we had radioed in for Ranger Judith to come help us here. Lana-”

Rosary: “Now hold up, you radioed for another ranger? Where did you get a park radio to do that?”

Kaari: “She lent it to us. You can go radio her to verify that if you want.”

Rosary: “Yeah, let me just leave two suspicious individuals hanging around an un-permitted area, unsupervised. If I’m walking out of here, the two of you are coming with me.”

Lana: “Shouldn’t you have heard our emergency call to her yourself?”

Rosary: “There have been no alerts in the last hour to switch over to the emergency frequency on the radios. If you contacted her on her personal frequency, no one else would have heard. If that was the case though, she should have put out a request to tune into the emergency frequency.”

She looks the two of us over some more.
Rosary: “Don’t see any blood here, both of you are standing just fine. Please do tell me what your emergency was?”

This pushy attitude of hers is wearing a bit thin on me. She… she sounds like she knows the radio system pretty well though. Ugh, I don’t think I can tell if she’s faking it or just a jerk.

>she's pretty big so I think to prepare for that fight you're gonna want to use what's around you to help.
>Regardless of how she responds, tell her you’d rather wait for Judith or Pitchford to get you out.
If we end up having to fight, I don’t think I should tell her about Lana’s leg injury. Shifting my eyes around the room, I could probably flip the poker table over for cover. There’s a rusty pick-ax hanging up and a hard hat as well.
We could try stalling her for time instead. Keep trying to wait it out for Judith or Pickford to show up.

Show her the injury. Should be blood visible on the bandages.

Going to the entrance to call Judith to confirm your story should be ok, tbh.

OBJECTION!

>Kaari: “Just a few moments ago, we had radioed in for Ranger Judith to come help us here. Lana-”

>Rosary: “Don’t see any blood here, both of you are standing just fine.”

I caught her lying, because Not once did we ever say anything about the emergency being an injury to her. We were about to before she interrupted. And yet she specifically said there was no blood, and that we were standing just fine. If she didn’t hear our conversation with Judith, then how could she have known!? She was specific about blood and us standing too. The only explanation is if she was listening in on our radio conversation. So why didn’t she say anything in our radio chat?! At this point, I’m confident the ranger chief as very untrustworthy, if she even is a chief.

(Just to point out, just because she is a chief doesn’t mean she isn’t working for the bad guys)

Just want to add, don’t show off Lana’s injury in case we are forced to fight. It’s better for her to believe we are lying about Lana’s injury so she isnt confident to come closer. It is irrelevant because we know she is lying right now about not hearing our conversations with Judith. That is what we need to focus on. We can show the injury as proof when Judith gets here.

Oooh.
Good spotting.
Theres a chance its a mistake on her part but... i dont think so.
Even if it was, a good objection like this will buy the time we need to delay.

Think I’ve got a great way to put that theory to the test.
Kaari: “That’s it, I’m putting out a call on Judith’s signal.”

Lana: “Kaari, the mine’s interfering with sending anything out.”

Rosary: “Exactly, return that radio to me now.”

I push down on the button and start speaking.
Kaari: “Who said I was trying to reach Judith?”

Rosary’s Radio: “Who said I was trying to reach Judith?”

Kaari: “You lied to us about not hearing our call to Judith, you’re tuned into her frequency. You heard we called for help with Lana’s leg. Why else would you have pointed out seeing us still standing-”

She pulls out a small axe from the back of her belt.
Rosary: “Alright game’s over then you smartass rabbit. Either of you move and this axe is going through your skulls.”

Lana: “Alright, what do you want from us then?”

Rosary: “First, you’re going to call off the rangers, then you’re going to tell me where that damn fox is hiding. If I like your answer, you get to sit tight in our hideout. If I don’t, one of you gets to be target practice.”

Okay…this is. We’re not dead, and still have a chance to turn this around. Question is, how?
We could try to stall some more for Judith or even Pickford to show up.

I-I could probably swing the table at her, or use it as protection from the axe. There’s a pick on the wall I could grab, and Lana’s got that knife she found.

There’s…there’s Dente as well. Not sure if we can call out for her to do anything but it seems like the bear doesn't realize she's here.

Stall or fight, I’m going to need a solid plan to get out of this.

She doesn't know about the knife. A sneak attack is on the table.

Anyway, tell her there's no way she can kill you here and get away with it, so that means her axe is useless unless she wants to spend the rest of her life behind bars.
She'll probably respond to this by attacking you non-lethally, and well, the knife will even the scales.

...or you could just fucking scream for Pickford. He's gotta be nearby at least, right? Sound should carry pretty well through the mines.

How are you supposed to call off the rangers? You aren't their boss so what are you supposed to say, that you're being kidnapped? Won't that just get the police involved?

as for the fox tell her you came in the mines to ditch her, she's a trouble magnet you'd rather avoid.

Ok.
Im goingbto suggest using a jedi mind trick to get an advantage on what were doing.
Lock eyes with her.
Be light on your feet like youre ready to fight or dodge.
You hold that stare.
Then, you glance to her left quickly and then back to her eyes.
She is alone.
In a escalating fight situation.
There are at least three additional threats she does not know the location of.
The possibility you glanced at someone sneaking to hit her is high.
Shes alert.
Ready to react.
She'll react to the imagined threat.
At that point, you have a mijiscule advantage on whatever it is youre going to do.

Grabbing knife? Running away?
Hurling tools at the scary bear?
I dont know which.
But try the eye thing and it might give you an extra second of action when it all starts.

Lana is a skilled fighter as a former bouncer. You're more skilled in diplomacy thanks to experience dealing with drunk angry unruly customers at the bar.

Take out your phone, and have Lana take out hers and pretend you are recording this. Yes, we're aware the phone doesn't actually record videos, but she doesn't know that. The key here is bluff.

Let her know that if she attacks, it'll be on camera. If she attacks one of us, the other will take that opportunity to escape with evidence, and then she'll have both the rangers, And the police to worry about. Not to mention she'll by that point have blood on her hands with the rangers still on their way. Suggest that right now, it will be for her best interest to cut her losses, and just leave while she still can, let us two enjoy the rest of the date, and we can all forget this ever happened.
