The /tg/ thread archives are going to have some threads deleted. Some quests might be caught up in it. This is a warning to notify the owner of any quest threads set for deletion.

Would it be a big hassle to transfer some of the more famous quests to tgchan servers?
At least the big three and maybe some other gems.
It's never good to rely on something you can't directly control.

Can we do that? If we can that'd probably be a good idea, it seems we'd lose Dorf Quest LXIII. And possibly a few other things I can't be arsed to care about.

The Dorf Quest being deleted in that line up is not one of the actual threads. It was a mis-archived thread I actually asked LL to delete ages ago.

Ah. I find it amusing that I would know this if I the archived threads work so I could see. I still think it'd be neat to keep a few archived /tg/ quests over here, however.

actually, getting The Game on here would help a lot. Larro still has the pictures for it so by working with dylan it could be made readable again.

Seems like at least the last proper one (part 26) gets deleted.
Always wanted to save em on my machine, but never actually did it. I guess I'll have to wait if he really restores em for 48 hours before finally purging it.

>Kill all drawthreads. These aren't any different than regular image dump threads, except they're singularly lower in quality and purpose; they're 10% content, 90% begging the artist. Any good drawfags will have their own dA account or at least a page on 1d4chan where their gallery is set up. Anyone participating in the threads likely saved "their" images, so why archive it?

Hey, fuck you too, buddy. I can only hope this drives the last few drawfags still putting up with /tg/ over here.

8GB saved. Wow. That's almost a whole hard drive...from fifteen years ago.

What? He wasn't giving a personal insult to you or any of the drawfags, he's making a decision on what content belongs on his site. It's his money that keeps this thing going and if the culling of the draw threads is what he needs to keep it running, then I say let him cull them.

Besides that, you misunderstood his comment about how much he's managed to drop. He said after culling the last five months of -5 threads he's managed to take off 8GB. If you've even bothered to look at the sheer volume of draw threads you'd know that the removal of them would be a much higher total than that.

>>6052
Don't act like the discussion wouldn't have been as bad on tgchan.

>Also, no, fuck your drawthreads, I should not have to go through every single drawthread out of 50 in a fucking month to see how many of them have more actual art than they do people begging for art and/or BG's reactionface avatars. Most of them are useless or stillborn.
Awesome. Seems like BG ruined it, again, for everyone else.

Of course he did! He ruined /v/ for drawfags and it looks like he's doing it to /tg/.

Honestly, after the text quest/ratsturbation defense squad rolled out over here that looks positively brilliant.

Did you somehow not see the posts?

I'm not even saying the quests in question are bad, I am saying that the defenses mounted for them have been so retarded that it is no longer laughable. And this is beyond dispute.

>beyond dispute
Uh. Right. I think you've misunderstood what most people are arguing about.

>Text Quests, as a medium, are not inherently shitty. But every text quest we ever had, and are ever likely to have, is shit. Writing well is hard, and generally speaking those inclined to put forth the effort to actually get good at it have enough of a work ethic that they'd be able to slap together a simple picture as well. Since people are doing text quests as the poor-man's 'everyone can do it!' quest, that's all they're ever going to be.

Your own words here. Now, I don't think all of the text quests around here are shit, but that's really a matter of taste and I don't think it needs to be discussed. The issue that I think a lot of people are actually arguing about is the validity of text quests as a medium. You agree; the medium is not the problem.

Hey, HEY!

Are you guys going to derail every thread into a textquests argument?

Cut it out.

Okay, the site owner made the soon-to-be-deleted threads available for download. I hope at least someone is planning on saving all of them, just in case.

>You agree; the medium is not the problem.

Just want to clarify something here:

I do agree that the medium is not the problem (except insomuch as it attracts the lazy); but this is not the issue.

I can agree that the medium of text quests is not inherently terrible while still believing (and correctly so!) that most of the people who defend the text quests do a really bad job of it and mostly end up looking goddamned retarded.

It is possible to reach a correct conclusion by applying faulty premises simply by accident. The premises are still faulty.

The /tg/ archives are moving to a new server and they're planning to delete more threads soon. Check in case any important threads get caught.

If Dylan has the time/inclination/space, it probably really would be a good idea to mirror Drew the Lich, Ruby Quest (and John Quest), Joandventure, and Dorf Quest over here. Driblis Quest is already gone. The wiki's search feature is being buggy so the only other one I can find at the moment is Rudy Mann Quest, and various clutter in Category:/tg/ Quests that I'm not sure is actually important to anyone.
