-Two young lovers, Freya and Fratley manage to escape the destruction of their homeland; Freya, being a warrior, is especially devastated.

-One of their first assignments is an investigation into a rash of disapearances in the Chattel district, which they trace to a large animal butchery run by an ogre, which in turn is owned by the Mafia.
-Even after a few weeks of staking out the building, they have no idea who facilitates the dissapearances, and probable murders, as the Ogre rarely leaves the shop.
-On patrol in the district, the pair hear a muffled scream, and Freya manages to track the source down right before a black mass slips back an alley. She's barely able to trail it, before losing sight of the creature; despondent, she makes her way out to the main road, only to find herself in front of the butchery.

When I started, the concensus was that she not be a belligerent alchoholic, rather a fumbling, touchy, suggestive type, which is what led to a lot of drawfaggotry. I was going for a different route to get Ink-Eyes and Freya together, so it hasn't come up for me.

Hey, I'm intrested still. I take it this is going to be rather long story? Haven't read a fanfic in a long time but I'm intrested in this pairing. If you got the motivation then please do.

I seem to have misplaced mine.

-In a pre-dawn raid, Fuklaw, Freya, Tordbeard, Joniass, and Angua enter the shop, only to hear screams emanating from below. In the basement, they find the ogre and a rat-thing dismembering a woman for an infernal ritual. Fuklaw orders them to stop, and when the ogre laughs, Fuklaw shoots him. The ogre keeps laughing, drops his glamors, and is revealed to not only be an Ogre Mage, but a half-demon one at that.

-Totally Awesome Fight Scene
-During the fight, Fuklaw is killed, and everyone but Freya is injured. The wounded rat-thing, assuming Freya is also a Nezumi, pleads for her help. Angua, still in a bloodlust, tries to kill the Nezumi, to be barely held back by the others.
-Freya, capable of understanding the Nezumi is assigned to her custody and interrogation, during which time she learns the creature's name is Ink-Eyes, and that she was mentally enslaved to the Ogre Mage and forced to fetch him bodies for his dark rituals.

-Tordbeard Tordbeardson is promoted to chief, and as the first non-human to take the position, he disbands the Monstrous Humanoid Division.
-Freya pleads Ink-Eyes' case before the Council of Sages and pays for all the necessary divinations to prove the Nezumi's innocence.
-Though found innocent, Ink-Eyes' status as a demon-bound being has her declared a threat to the state. Freya offers to keep her in her custody, Tordbeardson not only backs Freya, but also mentions that the Department could use the Nezumi's skills. With this, the Sages relent.

-Months pass (more months, by the end of the trial, 4 months have passed since Fuklaw's death: 3 years since she came to Solaris), during which Freya teaches Ink-Eyes Mannspiel. The Nezumi's first words are "Love you". Freya, unknowing how to respond, ignores her. Even when Ink-Eyes explains in her language.
-Despite that, the two women become fast friends, the Nezumi more than happy to do anything for the woman who saved her life, and the Burmecian glad to help, and to once again have a constant companion.

Still trying to find a way to work in brain-dead ol' Fratley. For some reason I can only think of them boinking it over his veggie self, but that just makes me a bad person.

Rain is the Final Boss.

In that vein, I'm trying to work this like a JRPG type thing, with party members and shit; like Tordbeardson Jr., Joniass, Angua, and other various applicable characters.

Still undecided on whether this is a standard fantasy place (it started out as part of the Unified Setting), or like 1920's gangster-infested Ankh-Morpork (which I'm actually leaning towards).
