Psychic powers are more believable than something ignoring the square cube law.

favorite gun here

It's 55 x 11 two shot revolver
Wish I could save that as a gif without having to go through the trouble of animating it myself.

I've been thinking of getting this game, but I'm still not convinced. Is it really that good?

It's a console game ported to PC.

There's good and bad, but a lot of glaring design flaws that are pretty unfortunate.

You enjoyed fapping to Diablo drops? You enjoyed having the selection of 4 classes with limited number of "good builds"? You liked happy-go-lucky Quake-like destruction?

Then yes, you should get it. Otherwise avoid like hell.

Also: The PC version is a horrible port. It has problems running multiplayer and few people reported problems with mouse/stuttering. If you want to buy it, wait for some kind of a patch to fix these issues.

I find it enjoyable, but multiplayer shows some problems.

For starters, playing as a sniper with at least one as melee (be it siren or berserker) is a pain in the ass. Sure, there's no friendly fire, but they stop bullets all the same.

Second, the lobby has no text chat. You better have voice, or you're gonna need to alt tab to talk. In game there is a text chat, but it's horrible. It's aligned to the right, meaning each line starts at a different place plus it doesn't stay long on screen, so half of what you type gets read. There doesn't seem to be a console or anything to read past messages either.

Also bloody hell i'm a sniper why do i only get SMG ammo everywhere?

There's also the fact random weapons can end up being completely retarded. For example, you can get a sniper rifle with a high RoF... but still with the default 3 round magazine.

Also everything scales with the number or players apparently. With 3 players bosses were able to pretty much one shot us. One even did it to all 3 of us at once.

Oh my God I know. Jesus Christ Brick move your ass. Is a little situational awareness too much to ask? It's faster for you to strafe three steps to the left and open up a shot for me than it is for me to strafe thrice that just to get a sliver of an opening.

Even if you DO have a mic, you're probably not going to have reliable voice chat. Not being able to set the volume or sensitivity will kind of ruin that for you. What the fuck were they thinking not adding a chat window for the PC port, seriously? That's what, an extra four hours of development time or something? It's a fucking MULTIPLAYER GAME, shit like that is kind of important. There IS a way to get console in the game (editing one of the many .ini files. What is this? Dwarf Fortress?) but it only keeps a record of what you chat, not the entire chat log.

>Also bloody hell i'm a sniper why do i only get SMG ammo everywhere?
That actually gets better as you level when your carrying capacity increases. It's an awful, AWFUL way to introduce a new player to the game though. It only gets worse in multiplay, too. Hope you like absolutely hating your class selection for the first ten or twenty levels. The best advice I have to give a sniper is to get comfortable not sniping in the early game. I guess that's why snipers can get pistol bonuses.

>There's also the fact random weapons can end up being completely retarded. For example, you can get a sniper rifle with a high RoF... but still with the default 3 round magazine.
Love it or hate it, that's the a random loot generator. Doesn't really bother me though - not every weapon has to be optimized. Some of them SHOULD be shitty.

I think this is a positive thing. I've found my groups blowing through the game way too fast even with the increased difficulty. At the very least they should have included a way to choose the difficulty multiplier.

All in all they should've left this thing in the oven for another month. We were expecting cookies, but they're still doughy and gross in the middle.

The core gameplay is goo, but there are a lot of boneheaded design flaws that put a damper on the game experience. In addition to the problems with multiplayer already mentioned, there's the fact that the Field of View is optimized for consoles and there's no way to change it in-game without modifying some files. Same thing with mouse smoothing and Vsync. There's no way to skip the startup movies without modifying the game files, the menus are awfully clunky and obviously designed without the mouse in mind, and driving is awkward and designed without WASD in mind. Perhaps most egregiously of all, the screen that shows weapons' bonuses is often too small to display all the information about a gun.

The game's only been out on PC a few days, and already people have found fixes for most of these problems, but they can still cause problems and don't work 100% of the time. I'm hoping that a future official patch fixes these problems.

All that said, it's an awesome and addictive game and I've had a blast with it since it came out.

I agree with all those points, but other than an issue with connecting to a friend yesterday, I dont think it effects the gameplay too much.
It is at least still very enjoyable, and probbably one of the better games ive played.
