Session Zero Edition

What is the Original Character Drawthread?

Hailing from 4chan's /Trash/ board, the OCD (as I'll call it from hereon out to save my fingers) is a place dedicated to the discussion and drawing of people's original characters, while furry focused, other characters are allowed as well.

All of TGChan's/Questden's standard rules apply here.

|Suggestions|
>Don't be afraid to ask for critique, or ask others about their OC!
>Feel free to shoot the breeze about your own chars or just in general; it's part of what this thread is for and we'd love to hear what you're working on!
>If your character gets a delivery and you want to request it again, wait a few days (4-6) or even a week. We all love to get art, let others have a chance!
>Be chill and excellent to each other. Remember, don't be a dick. These threads wouldn't exist without the kindness of others.
>Don't be afraid to talk to each other, and don't be scared to request what you want.

Optional Thread Topics
>What/who are your characters?
>Where did you find inspiration for them (if it all,) do you have a connection to them or an aspect of them personally?
>What universe/setting does your character hail from? Is it a preexisting setting or something you're creating yourself?
>What are your OC(s) aspirations or end goals? Do they have any at all beyond simply surviving?
>Will you keep your OC as is for the foreseeable future or will you be working on them constantly (akin to a project car/watercooled PC.)?

Not doing any requests for now, wanna let the thread get on its feet.
>What/who are your characters?
The Twins are humans modified with animal DNA to an extreme degree, working in a private security firm under their parents who are the founders of the firm themselves.
>Where did you find inspiration for them (if at all,) do you have a connection to them or an aspect of them personally?
Cyberpunk 2077 partially with much of their foundation being inspired by urban myth and legend, when I was a kid I was a huge fan of things like Mothman & and other cryptids, so I wanted physically imposing design with abilities rooted in reality. I also wanted to avoid more unnatural designs which is why they're basis is that of a Golden Eagle.
>What universe/setting does your character hail from? Is it a preexisting setting or something you're creating yourself?
Something I'm creating myself, I'd explain it more here but I'll wait until someone shows interest.
>What are your OC(s) aspirations or end goals? Do they have any at all beyond simply surviving?
Retire, get a job as a firearms instructor.

>Will you keep your OC as is for the foreseeable future or will you be working on them constantly (akin to a project car/watercooled PC.)?
For sure, I've seen them through many different iterations and ideas and while I hope I can find something I'm comfortable with I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Who is it that's to draw the characters? Just anyone who wants to, or are you the designated artist for this thread, or...?
>>
No. 29462 ID: c179c7

>>29460
General idea is that artists can look through the thread and if they see something that catches their fancy (be it the character itself, the idea attached, or both) they can draw it and upload it onto the thread as a delivery. The main thing that I'm (alongside my other friends) worried about is a sizeable group of requests, plenty of artists from the 4chan threads are looking for a fresh flow of new characters and ideas to draw.

I'm going to start off light here, since this is a brand new place.

Requesting any of these with my girl, Carrie.
-hanging out with any other oc
-POV imminent hug
-a reaction image (excited, sad, etc)
-sitting in a chair, drinking coffee and reading a book on a snowy night
Or just anything you want. I like cute and nsfw.

>What/who are your characters?
Carrie is a half elf, half were-cat with some basic magic skills.
>Where did you find inspiration for them (if it all,) do you have a connection to them or an aspect of them personally?
There was a game with a character creator I played once. I wanted to make Callie Briggs with it, but it was too limited and the right section on the ref image was the result. I decided that I liked this design as an oc rather than a recreation, so I tweaked it a bit and gave her a personality, and that's how Carrie was born.
My connection to her is a bit personal. It was a rough time for me mentally, so thinking of new lore and attributes for her helped me get through that.
>What universe/setting does your character hail from? Is it a preexisting setting or something you're creating yourself?
She's a relatively new addition to a universe that I've been working on since 2006 or so. In this universe, there are four main humanoid species: humans, elves, youkai, and beasts. They all have their own sets of skills and co-exist in relative harmony.
>What are your OC(s) aspirations or end goals? Do they have any at all beyond simply surviving?
Carrie wants to be a florist, but for now she works at her family's general store. Survival is easy, getting through discrimination is the hard part. Half breeds are generally seen as okay, but her being a mixed breed has brought some unkind words and actions throughout her life.
>Will you keep your OC as is for the foreseeable future or will you be working on them constantly (akin to a project car/watercooled PC.)?
I'm constantly working on her. Her design hasn't changed too much, but her personality changes slightly now and then. Recently I've designed a weapon for her but I don't know how to fit it onto the ref.

Out with the old, and now I gotta get used to the new, ah great. Might as well start.
Requesting my nervous alien lad Linus in a spaceship, since "travel" is a bit thematic? The more homely it is the better.

>What/who are your characters?
Linus is a nervous wreck of an alien. A spaceman, but mortally terrified of space.
>Where did you find inspiration for them (if it all,) do you have a connection to them or an aspect of them personally?
God, There's a lot of inspiration you can all see just by first glance, So I'm gonna blaze through them. Hearthians from Outer wilds (love that game, not to be confused with outer WORLDS). Connor from Confinement (in terms of some parts of his personality). Imps from Risk of Rain. And myself because I too am fascinated yet mortified by space.
>What universe/setting does your character hail from? Is it a preexisting setting or something you're creating yourself?
I have a whole fucking multiverse at this rate lmao, get ready for weird meat golems and trash bags filled with living tar in the foreseeable future.
>What are your OC(s) aspirations or end goals? Do they have any at all beyond simply surviving?
Studying various lifeforms in the reaches of the solar system where his planet resides and finding out what happened to those like him who were lost (happens a lot.)
>Will you keep your OC as is for the foreseeable future or will you be working on them constantly (akin to a project car/watercooled PC.)?
Oh I'm definitely going to flesh out his setting, its honestly the most underdeveloped out of the 3.
God, it feels good to post without someone constantly spamming anal vore.

I've been developing a rather expansive setting myself. It's a sword n' sorcery/'fantasy kitchen sink' sort of thing I started working on back in 2013 for use in D&D.

I've actually considered running a quest here recently. Though, knowing the history of quests on this site, the market seems kinda saturated on 'small rabbit-y creature does the fighting' things.

I hope this is reasonable! I request something with this character. Artist's choice, but ideally something cute and/or "big mood"!

>What/who are your characters?
Leaner is a very tired fluffy person who lives in a (physically and metaphysically) run-down apartment with some of their friends, in a sort-of cyberpunk-styled city.
>Where did you find inspiration for them (if it all,) do you have a connection to them or an aspect of them personally?
I had an image in my mind of some poorly-defined critter person leaning on a wall, so I drew it, and eventually developed a species from there. I don't have a personal connection to 'em, but some of the situations I draw them in are similar to ones that I've been in.
>What universe/setting does your character hail from? Is it a preexisting setting or something you're creating yourself?
They're in what's currently called the Nice Save setting, after my and K0bold's quest on this site, Nice Save! ( https://questden.org/wiki/Nice_Save )
>What are your OC(s) aspirations or end goals? Do they have any at all beyond simply surviving?
Leaner is sort of aimless and trying to figure out what they want to do in life. However, they live in a post-scarcity society, so the pressure to do so is light and I end up drawing them in very slice-of-life situations, from which small things can be gleaned about their life and the world they live in.
>Will you keep your OC as is for the foreseeable future or will you be working on them constantly (akin to a project car/watercooled PC.)?
This one's slightly complicated, since they're part of a setting with a very long timeline that I skip around in to find things to write or draw about, and Leaner's species is biologically immortal. For now, I have some ideas about how their life will go, but I haven't committed to them and we'll have to see if I ever do!

Main refsheet is in this post, but if you want some more, here's a bunch of pics!

New places new faces! Everything is still all the same, I'm sure.

Requesting my boy Beam here sitting down on a beanbag chair and just chilling out, playing some vidja games.

>What/who are your characters?
Beam is a hybrid of a Dragon and a cat, its not really noticeable outside of the tail that hes a dragon, but he can also breathe out purple fire.
>Where did you find inspiration for them (if it all,) do you have a connection to them or an aspect of them personally?
Originally I was really fascinated with the colors you could see from those light prism, he used to be covered in a bunch of rainbows and stuff (even had rainbow insides) but I decided "nah, I really don't want that to be my sona." So I got him redesigned and I just stuck with what's given here.
>What universe/setting does your character hail from? Is it a preexisting setting or something you're creating yourself?
I haven't really given much thought, as of right now he's just used as a persona online, I've been thinking of stuff for him though.
>What are your OC(s) aspirations or end goals? Do they have any at all beyond simply surviving?
He's just vibing honestly
>Will you keep your OC as is for the foreseeable future or will you be working on them constantly (akin to a project car/watercooled PC.)?

In Leaner's city and various others, locations require a sort of emotional maintenance in addition to physical maintenance, or else they will face conceptual instability, which will cause issues such as things to be in the wrong place, for example, doors. There are "bugs" which are deterred from chewing on the concept of the location by people doing the sort of activities that cause them to form memories of said location. In Leaner's apartment, the living room is one of the most stable areas, and the hallways are among the least stable. Unoccupied rooms tend to do things like stop being oriented correctly, so every now and then the building's inhabitants will go around and do things near them to maintain them. People don't usually live in such run-down buildings, but it's free if you're willing to deal with it.

Gonna give this thread a shot.
Requesting Zippy in exercise wear or as any female Street Fighter character.

>What/who are your characters?
This is Zippy, my armless frog brawler. She fights crime alongside her friends, Valerie the split personality singer hermit crab, and Izzy the farmer ninja bat (kind of a mouthful, I know).
>Where did you find inspiration for them (if it all,) do you have a connection to them or an aspect of them personally?
Freedom Planet has influenced a lot about my OCs and various Nintendo games have influenced how I drew them.
>What universe/setting does your character hail from? Is it a preexisting setting or something you're creating yourself?
Zippy lives in an island city, her residence is an apartment building exclusively for heroes!
>What are your OC(s) aspirations or end goals? Do they have any at all beyond simply surviving?
She wants to better her abilities as a fighter and become a renowned hero. But first she has to work away the bad reputation she has with her apartment manager, who's responsible for coordinating how the hero suite functions and what crimes certain heroes face.
>Will you keep your OC as is for the foreseeable future or will you be working on them constantly (akin to a project car/watercooled PC.)?
Design-wise I think she's in a pretty solid spot. I need to brainstorm some more plotlines and stories for my characters though.

Before I say anything else, I have to commend you Takahashi for your OP image. Here’s To You.

My OC is Borya Ra Burkouskie. She is the protagonist of The Path of a Hero, the largest of the quests I have started. I cannot claim she is entirely my own character, as /quest/ helped shape her.
She’s a twelve year old human girl with a sociopathic disorder, violent tendencies, and possibly existential depression. She’s fun at parties.
The setting she inhabits is a ‘what if’ version of the near future. This setting is characterized by political strife, a new cold war, and more plot-holes than I care to point out.

She represents parts of me, bearing my lack of social grace and anger. But the more I write with her, the more she becomes entirely her own person. I can’t really say what my aspirations are for her, she’s pretty much at the mercy of /quest/. I just hope she continues to evolve as a person.

A collaborative character carries the creativity of every one of its creators, that sounds awesome.
>She’s a twelve year old human girl with a sociopathic disorder, violent tendencies, and possibly existential depression. She’s fun at parties.
Reminds me of "We Need to Talk About Kevin."
>The setting she inhabits is a ‘what if’ version of the near future. This setting is characterized by political strife, a new cold war, and more plot-holes than I care to point out.
Sounds like reality and fiction colliding, haha! Really though that sounds quite interesting, I wonder how it'll play out nvn

My previous characters of mine represented an escape from a depressing reality, my twins are me in a sense as I use them as my digital avatar, however they also show my macabre fascination of taboo areas of humanity.

Awesome character overall! Do you have plans to make art of her?

I'd rather answer some questions for now.
>What/who are your characters?
I've got quite a few, but one of my main one's is Terry Otswell, AKA the superhero Eternity, weilder of the "Book of Knowledge" a book that fused with his body. Here's a pastebin explaining it all.
https://pastebin.com/pr759Xqm
>Where did you find inspiration for them (if it all,) do you have a connection to them or an aspect of them personally?
Through comics! I've always had a fascination with comics and superheros, and wanted to make my own.
>What universe/setting does your character hail from? Is it a preexisting setting or something you're creating yourself?
Sort of like our Earth, with a few differences, like modern versions of the ancient wonders, and stuff like that. There's also a whole multiverse thing i'm creating, as well.
>What are your OC(s) aspirations or end goals? Do they have any at all beyond simply surviving?
Protecting the world and it's people from harm, until the day that he's either dead, or there's nothing else to protect them from.
>Will you keep your OC as is for the foreseeable future or will you be working on them constantly (akin to a project car/watercooled PC.)?
Design wise, yeah, he's most likely going to stay the way he is. I like how his outfit's come out, and his powers are at a state where I feel good about them.

Eh, why not? Requesting Duke Primo, the eternal thespian tyrant, with an abacus and trying to suss out the value of a soul.

>What/who are your characters?
The Duke is a primordial dragon who's found a means to make himself immortal by splitting his soul between the earth itself and a physically separated remnant kept under lock and key. He uses this deathless nature to gain and create as much wealth as possible as well as advance the theatrical/media arts to their highest possible form.

>Where did you find inspiration for them (if it all,) do you have a connection to them or an aspect of them personally?
Part of it was the right artist at the right time, part of it was wanting to make a BBEG who could properly play the long game.

>What universe/setting does your character hail from? Is it a preexisting setting or something you're creating yourself?
A little /tg/ setting I screw around with every now and again when I want to try out high fantasy style characters.

>Will you keep your OC as is for the foreseeable future or will you be working on them constantly (akin to a project car/watercooled PC.)?

Requesting my cat thief sadly playing with her maneki-neko doll.

>What/who are your characters?
Fortune is a notorious criminal from Planet Baast, known for her effortless getaways and seemingly supernatural ability to disappear into the shadows. She travels the stars in her junker of a ship, The Ventura, with a pair of crewmates looking for oddjobs to do legit or ritzy places to plunder.

>Where did you find inspiration for them (if it all,) do you have a connection to them or an aspect of them personally?
Combination of the Star Fox universe and personal experience. How does poverty in the sci-fi future lead people to become space pirates?

>What universe/setting does your character hail from? Is it a preexisting setting or something you're creating yourself?
Fortune was born and raised in the feline civilization of Planet Baast. Due to the widespread belief that black cats are bad luck, Baast has a rigid caste system. Black cats like her are often subject to discrimination and lives in poverty, and only a few ever manage to escape, with many of the rest turning to crime.
Fortune was a thief from an early age, knowing every inch of her home town and the most effective places to escape the law.
While she eventually left Baast, the Ednia system wasn't much different. It's a galaxy where money talks louder than all else.

>What are your OC(s) aspirations or end goals? Do they have any at all beyond simply surviving?
She wants to amass enough money to live the rest of her life on so she can return to her son, Pitch, whom she was forced to leave behind on Baast (she left him in the care of a friend after a particularly dangerous job that threatened both their lives). Once she has enough money, she'll return to him and find some no-name backwoods asteroid to live the rest of their lives on in peace.

>Will you keep your OC as is for the foreseeable future or will you be working on them constantly (akin to a project car/watercooled PC.)?

The jackal natives of Planet Dusk, a resource-rich desert planet currently being colonized and mined by Baast and a few other surrounding planets.

This here's Selena Ozkura, one of said natives. She and her own gang of bandits spent years trying to sabotage attempts to mine their homelands, but after a couple of botched attempts (and more than a few deaths), she decided it was a losing fight and left Dusk to search the galaxy for riches.

She's currently part of Fortune's crew. Fortune needed a mechanic, Selena wanted a sneaky partner in crime.

>What/who are your characters?
Cassius is a Lion/Bull hybrid who works as a model/stunt double, and wants to accomplish something on his own merit he can be proud of.
>Where did you find inspiration for them (if it all,) do you have a connection to them or an aspect of them personally?
He started out as a fursona when I joined FA, but he slowly became a character of his own and I started creating a world to fit him in. His personality is based on Miguel's from Tekken 6.
>What universe/setting does your character hail from? Is it a preexisting setting or something you're creating yourself?
Its something similar to Beastars in how society works(predators at the top and such), but the figure of a Beastar does not exist.
>What are your OC(s) aspirations or end goals? Do they have any at all beyond simply surviving?
He wants to achieve something he can be proud of that isn't handed to him because of his looks or because he has connections. Something he can make with his own hands.
