I am welcoming suggestions because it turns out it's really hard to come up with varying and interesting ideas for 200+ cards and also balance them correctly.

It might just have been the blunt way which you said it, then. Especially since it's in a place where usually everyone contributes. I sympathize with your balancing issue, and I think I get why you decided to make the thread in /questdis/ now, but I feel like barring it to the public did more harm than good. I mean let's face it, from the looks of the custom cards thread in /meep/ few people would do it anyway, and it would have led to less tension if you hadn't included that allcaps POOL'S CLOSED-esque disclaimer. At worst you could ignore their cards.
