A Quest featuring Tozols by Tayabird

Something Something Tozol on a iceball planet, struggling to survive against the beasts, the cold, and the Others. Darker in tone.

Setting

Characters

Anja Kayar - A young tozol. They arrived on the planet with 'The Wise One', their mother, when their ship crashed. They possess passable tech and stealth skills, but do not understand the finer points of combat and assault. Callsign 'Banshee'.

The Wise One (??? Kayar) - Anja Kayar's mother, who trained them in basic survival and hunting skills, in addition to several other skills. Their real name is currently unknown.

The Others - An avian species of extraterrestrial origin. Their purpose on N1-K162 is unknown. They are the implied opposing force of the setting.

Planet

N1-K162, the planet on which Perkele begins, is a year-round iceball on the outer edge of the habitable zone orbiting an F-class white star. The planet's equator rarely dips above 40 degrees in the summer, and much of the rest of the planet's non-tropics are eternally frozen over.

Native life on the planet consists of those plants, animals, and fungi that live at the equator or near naturally occurring geothermal events - several of the non-equatorial hot spots are vast pits of volcanic mud, algae, and primitive life. Predators are rare but present, and what life travels between mudpits is typically heavy and armored against cold and assault.

The surface is bathed in intense UV radiation due to its almost complete lack of an ozone layer and the white star that the planet orbits. Daytime is excruciatingly bright, offering little more visibility to normal creatures than the darkest of nights. Nighttime is lessened by two orbiting moons that reflect the planet's intense light, but crevasses, cliffs, and pits are still hard to avoid even in these conditions.

Although Tozols can survive the UV radiation, visibility is poor even for them, and the Others are incapable of surviving for more than an hour outside of their vehicles without gear, much less without going snowblind.
