Warning! This quest contains lewd situations!

-------
"Looking for the best rates on ship parts? Bargains are the name of the game here at Siren! We've got conduits, sensors, s-foils, main deflector dishes, all kinds of great gear ready for YOU! Stop by Siren for the best deals you'll ever find in this sector! Call C-200-9932-"

Siren 1: "Turn it off, already! We're here."

Siren 2: "It's a good commercial, though."

Siren 3: "Well, you're probably one of the few. It was the cheapest ad spot we could get, considering."

A weathered ship flies towards a hulking wreck in the distance. The occupants lean into the viewports, their imaginations running wild with the thoughts of salvage, and the riches that they entail.

Siren 4: "Wow! This has to be one of those old repurposed colony ships! Those things are full of old tech they don't make anymore!"

Siren 1: "Yep, this is- or was, rather- The Curious Sojourner. Went through several owners before a core reactor explosion put it
down."

Siren 3: "So how come we're the first to salvage it?"

Siren 1: "We're the lowest bidder. Also made an extra arrangement with the former owner to recover all data on the main computer."

Siren 2: "OK, we're ready to dock. Projecting force field and atmosphere around exposed superstructure..."

Siren 4: "Grab your tools, girls, let's get to work. Where should we start?"

Names decided!

Siren 1: Su-Yeong
Siren 2: Tracy
Siren 3: Noor
Siren 4: Pauline

Tracy heads to her quarters and downs a couple Anti-Rad pills in preparation for her mission. Noor sets up a Personal Analytical Device, or PAD, in anticipation of pulling data from the main computer. Su-Yeong and Pauline coordinate how to set up the cutting laser after doing a full inventory of the cargo area.

Who are we going to follow first?

Tracy straps on her trusty sword and enters the airlock into the ship proper along with the others.

Su-Yeong: "Test test test. Everyone receiving?"

Tracy: "Five by five, Siren 1. Making my way to Engineering now."

Noor: "Lima Charlie, Siren 1. Heading to the Primary Computer core."

Pauline: "I hear ya, Su! On my way to the Cargo Hold!"

Tracy walks down corridors for several minutes, following the helpful signs leading to Engineering. After rounding a corner, Tracy finds the main entrance to Engineering but is stopped cold by a large sealed blast door. Tracy pokes a nearby door switch, but nothing happens.

Tracy: "Siren 1, the main door to Engineering is sealed. Can you do something about it?"

Tracy waits while she hears rapid key presses over the comm.

Su-Yeong: "Sorry Siren 2. It looks like the door malfunctioned after sealing and is jammed shut. You're going to have to go around."

Tracy's eyes wander around the entrance. To her left, she sees a door that leads to an adjacent lab. Above the door is an air duct that might lead to the other side, though it could be a tight squeeze. To her right is a maintenance shaft that leads to a storage room. All the paths lead to Engineering eventually.

Which path does Tracy take?
>>
No. 928456 ID: b1b4f3

Storage room. See if there's anything useful or valuable in there.
>>
No. 928469 ID: 8eaf98

Lab sounds like the kinda place hazardous experiments would be if we were in some kind of story. Storage sounds safer let's go storage.
>>

Try the air duct, it's the shortest detour.

It's literally right above the door. Even if it didn't let out right behind it we could cut our own exit.

I have no good reasoning for not wanting to take the air vent other than I would rather not, because of the mentioned possible space concerns and not wanting to get stuck.

Tracy opts for the Storage room. She gets down on all fours and slowly crawls through the duct, making sure to keep the sword flush with the passage.

Opening the grate on the other side, Tracy enters a storage room. There are many unlabeled containers line the storage racks along the walls, some tipped over and their contents spilled on the floor. Making her way slowly throught the room, Tracy hears the sound of dripping. She imagines some kind of liquid container might have ruptured and has started leaking when the gravity came back on. She notices no noxious fumes or poisons of any kind.

Tracy is briefly startled when a drop of liquid hits her skin. She braces for the burning sensation of caustic acids, but nothing happens. Shrugging off the liquid as harmless, she continues through the room. She doesn't notice as several more drops catch her, and start dissolving her armor and outfit...

A large door appears in front of Tracy. It is partially ajar, but not wide enough for her to slip past. The door is either jammed or something in the other room is blocking it. She spies the consoles and blinking lights in the engine room behind the door. Her prize is nearly in sight! But how will she get past this door?

Tracy thinks. Maybe there are tools in this room we can use? Can she use her sword to wedge the door open? Maybe just some muscle to force the door open? Or something else?

How should Tracy open the door?

Search for tools.

It probably has an escape hatch or release mechanism in case the door's stuck. Look around for anything with emergency or hazard markings on it.

Tracy scans the room for tools. After a few minutes of searching and catching a few more drops of liquid, she finds a solid crowbar. Returning to the jammed door, Tracy slides the crowbar into the gap and starts to force the door open. After a minute of grunting and pushing, the door unjams and swings open.

Inside is a large vertical structure, dotted by consoles and containers. Tracy grins.

Tracy: "Siren 1, I've reached Engineering."

Su-Yeong: "Excellent. See if you can re-route the fuel to external ports near the ship's location. And make sure to grab as many industrial motherboards as you can carry."

Tracy scans the room. There are multiple consoles that could contain motherboards, but she would need them to divert fuel from the consoles first. Question is... where does she start?
>>
No. 959503 ID: b1b4f3

>>959502
What's with that grating on the floor?
Check all the consoles, see if they're all running. Divert fuel as instructed, wait for it to complete, then start taking things apart.
>>
No. 959505 ID: 2aa5f0

I say give the room a once over first to see if their is anything useful laying around before you start poking things and taking them apart.
>>
No. 959507 ID: 0fae41

Start with the closest console to check it for fuel controls. Time is money, and money is money!

Tracy heads to the nearest console and checks it out. Lo and behold, there are controls for routing fuel. Tracy starts to punch in commands to route it to the external port near their ship, but suddenly catches a glimpse of her dissolving outfit. She tries to brush it off, but ends up smearing it across more of her clothes.

Tracy: "Siren 1, what is this yellow liquid in the engine room?!"

Su-Yeong: "Checking... it's a conduit flush fluid. Designed to dissolve synthetic materials that may be blocking fuel lines."

Tracy: "Well I got some of it on me and it's eating through my suit!"

Su-Yeong: "Don't worry, it won't hurt organic substances. Your body should be just fine. But I highly recommend speeding up your work; you aren't safe with a breached suit."

Tracy: "You're telling me! I stay in here much longer, I'll end up buck naked!"

A barely suppressed giggle comes out of the radio.

Tracy: "What was that?"

Su-Yeong: "Localized interference. Hurry up, Siren 2!"

Tracy is now on the clock! While the ship is still under an atmospheric force-field, losing her armor is unsafe. The longer she stays in the engine room, the more her armor will dissolve and the greater safety risk she takes. What will she do?

NEW MECHANIC! Risk Factor!

When risky situations arise, characters have the opportunity to choose an action to roll to see if they succeed! Here's how it works: Observe the Difficulty Class of the challenge. Then vote for an option to roll 1D20 against it. A Low Risk situation means you roll with Advantage (rolling twice and choosing the highest value). Medium Risk means you roll with no advantage (a single roll). A High Risk situation means you roll with Disadvantage (rolling twice and choosing the lowest value). You may find items along the way that will mitigate risk or enhance your rolling abilities. Failure could mean bad things happen. Choose wisely! Or don't!

(Yes, these are D&D 5e mechanics we're using. Hopefully they will be familiar enough for you!)

DC: 4
Choose one:
-Re-route fuel and grab circuit boards, then leave (high risk)
-Grab circuit boards, then leave (medium risk)
-Re-route fuel, then leave (low risk)
-Leave right now (no risk)

DC 4 is pretty low...
high risk is 64% chance of success, med risk is 80% chance of success, low risk is 96% chance of success.

Re-route fuel and grab circuit boards, then leave.
>>
No. 966290 ID: 094652

Grab the circuit boards only. 64% chance in context is not enough to justify risking a direct explosion by removing the volatile fuel tank from the engineered receptacle.

Meh, GURPS 3d6 system is much more straightforward.

Rather than just run and hope we dont end up in the buff, why not use a knife to cut off the portions of our suit that have been exposed to the liquid? We wouldn't have to hurry as much then as long as we are careful.

Or we could just take off the uniform and go in nude and then don the uniform once we are done scavenging the area. It would be awkward, but we would still have the suit mostly intact once we are done here.

80% would actually be our cance on a DC 5. Don't forget that equalling the DC is a success, so DC 4 fails on only three results out of 20. 85% base chance of success, 72.25% high risk, 97.75% low risk.

At any rate, taking the high risk option on a low DC like this might mean we need to take fewer high risks later when the DC might be higher. I say go for it.

Tracy successfully reroutes the fuel lines and grabs every available circuit board. Hands and arms full of loot, she bolts from the engine room while her suit and undergarments continue to dissolve. Tracy takes great care to not get any of the liquid on the valuable circuits.

Meanwhile... Noor is approaching the computer core when a large blast door impedes her progress.

Noor: "Come in, Siren 1."

Su-Yeong: "What's up, Siren 3?"

Noor: "I have a large blast door in front of me. It's cutting off access to the computer core. Can you open it remotely?"

There's a momentary pause.

Su-Yeong: "Negative, Siren 3. I don't have the permissions to disengage it. You'll have to find another way through."

Noor: "I can't see any other way though!"

Su-Yeong: "There's a small ventilation chute near the door you can use, that's probably the shortest route. You might just be able to squeeze in, assuming you haven't been binging on candied almonds again."

Noor blushes slightly while running her hands down her hips.

Noor: "Rude!"

Su-Yeong: "You can also backtrack to the maintenance ladder you passed, that leads around to another room adjacent to the computer core. Drone Control, I believe. Might be some goodies there if you want to examine it."

Noor: "Alright... let me think here."

Which path should Noor take?
