Re: A Lot of Tiny Worlds

    suggestions:

Of course! Alkasi is looking for his heart.

    Wait.

No. No he isn't. That's silly. His heart is inside him. He can feel it beating and everything.

Plus, how could it leave him without him dying due to being without a heart? He's pretty certain hearts are important for not dying.

Then he remembers that he never set out to literally find his physical heart. He set out to find the one who had captured his metaphorical one. Yes, the big shadowsnake-

No. Not the big shadowsnake. Alkasi doesn't even know a big shadowsnake. The big shadowsnake is not the object of his affection. He is looking for Ikioti.

Oh, Ikioti. Alkasi knew her briefly, but she was one from another world herself, Emerald Skies. Emerald Skies is very much similar to Green Spikes, except with slightly less spikes. Alkasi thinks that makes it a wondrous paradise compared to Green Spikes. But one day, she went missing. And from what few traces she had left behind, it didn't look like she had left of her own free will.

So Alkasi swore to find her and rescue her from whatever terrible fate had befallen her, and they would reunite, tearfully embracing, the light geysers dim in the horizon, the stars shimmering, and they would draw closer to each other, warm in each others' arms, tails curling around themselves, and their mouths-

    "Alkasi!"

"You're kind of spacing out there,"
says Lapis. "What are you looking for?"
"I'm looking for a friend of mine! She's in trouble and I'm going to rescue her!"
"Do you know what that sounds like to me?"
    "Um, no?"
    "It sounds like adventure, Alkasi!"

"I will join you on your search! Perhaps one day you will go down in history as the first loyal companion of the Great Adventurer Lapis!"
"Um, okay," says Alkasi, not entirely sure what just happened with the pose Lapis struck for some unseen audience.
"You probably wouldn't know, but I'm kind of famous," lies Lapis through her well-concealed teeth. "On other worlds, you know."
"Well, Green Spikes is still dangerous! But I know my way around. We'll make a great team, a famous adventurer and a local navigator!"

"So where are we going?" asks Lapis, breaking the sudden awkward silence.
"Uh, I don't know. I forgot where I was heading when I raced over here to catch you."
"So we're stuck in the middle of a green desert of spikes and you have no idea where to go?"
    "I think so, sadly enough."
"Well, at least we only have to worry about being lost, right?"

"IT SMELLS WOUNDS," says the large, pretty creepy thing that's been following them undetected for quite some time. It doesn't sound particularly friendly, nor interested in polite, civil exchange. "THE SCENT OF A FRESH MEAL, WEAK, EASILY CAUGHT."

"Not just being lost, no," whispers Alkasi. "How well can you fight?"
    "Fight?! Shouldn't we be running?!"

Should the two run or fight? Or should they follow a different course of action entirely?

The shadowsnake is obviously just a bad conversationalist. Give him a hug so he feels welcomed!

Alkasi's survived on this Planet long enough, he knows what he's doing in physical confrontations. ...Right ?

    Anyway, my point is:
    > Alkasi: Strife

Hoof it! Or at least, run until you find something you can use as a weapon.

Bluffing is always great, except when it isn't!

Run like there is a horrible thing trying to devour you if this fails.

Re: A Lot of Tiny Worlds

    suggestions:

"Alkasi, I have a plan," whispers Lapis. "I'll distract him and then we run."

"Hey!" Lapis shouts at the big freaky shadowsnake thing. "I'm from Blue Crystals! You know my blood's highly toxic to everything not from Blue Crystals, right?"

"THE BLOOD OF THE CRYSTAL DWELLERS IS THE MOST DELECTABLE, SO RARE, SO DELICIOUS. SOON IT WILL FEAST."

Alkasi grabs Lapis' hand and proceeds with the plan of running like never before.

"TO FLEE EARNS YOU MERE SECONDS OF LIFE," screeches the monster as it effortlessly glides across the plains towards them. "YOU CANNOT AVOID YOUR FATES."

"Lapis I don't think we can run from this thing forever!" shouts Alkasi, grateful for his legs being far less short and stubby than his arms. "We have to do something about it!"

"What do you suggest?" gasps Lapis, struggling to keep up. "I'm not in the best shape after falling from a great height onto a planet made of spikes!"

"MEET YOUR DESTINY," growls the creature, swiftly lashing out with one of its many appendages, grabbing Lapis.

"ALKASI! ALKASI IT GOT ME HELP HELP THIS WASN'T PART OF THE PLAN!"

Alkasi skids to a halt across the rough ground.

He hasn't known Lapis for very long. But in such a short time, he thinks they've clicked. Maybe it's because he saved her life, maybe it's because she's a stranger from another land, but it hasn't taken long for him to almost instantly consider Lapis a friend.

And Alkasi doesn't like it when his friends are being threatened.

    Not one little bit.

He also doesn't like pain, he finds out, but at least the problem has been dealt with.

"Alkasi? You saved my life again. Are- are you alright?"

Lapis catches Alkasi just before he passes out and learns yet again that for every problem solved, a new problem presents itself.

And she has no idea where any form of civilisation is, nor has any equipment with her. She tries to come up with a plan fast. For all she knows, night or day or whatever it is might come soon, and bring with it freezing cold or scorching heat.

    Adventure sure is hard.

    Holy shit, Alkasi is hardcore!

Um... I don't know exactly what you should do from here... There's gotta be something to make shelter from around here.

Re: A Lot of Tiny Worlds

Oh nooooooo check his body for wounds and... you're naked aren't you, of course. Great. Um... Are there any plants anywhere with big leaves to dress his wounds with or something? If not, look around at the sky for a kind of bright spot, that might indicate a city. We've got to do something we can't let him diiiiieeeeeee!

Yeah, look around for lights or any movements. Also, are there any signs that there have been people(?) there before you?

Erm... a splint! Yes, you could make one for Alkasi with one of those spikes! Just... don't have it point towards his body. As for something to tie it with. You'll (literally) bump into it.

What? He's no Zerg, but for all I know, he may be able to do that. Alien biology is weird.

Re: A Lot of Tiny Worlds

    suggestions:

"I'll fix this, Alkasi," mumbles Lapis, marching forwards with his increasingly heavy body. She wipes her tears away. Yes, it is not nice to see him so badly injured, but she knows giving into despair only risks the both of them a lot more.

She decides to do something about his wounds, as well as make a shelter. A quick scan of the horizon shows no real sources of light beyond the ever-present glare of the light geysers.

She thinks she's in the middle of the wilderness. The green, jagged, painful wilderness.

She lowers Alkasi onto the sharp ground as gently as she can and tries to figure out just how badly wounded he is.

He seems in pretty bad shape. Bad enough that there is a risk of something really bad happening. And she can't find any materials to bandage him, and doesn't know enough about the local flora or even how Alkasi's body works to know what would be a good idea.

She is, however, aware that the tongues of those from Blue Crystals are particularly renowned for their healing properties. On things from Blue Crystals, of course, but lacking any better option...

Lapis establishes that Alkasi's blood is not in fact acidic, toxic, or explosive on contact. Already finding the entire situation just a little too weird, she mentally screens out the merest thought of starting to consider even beginning to contemplate just what the blood of her new friend tastes like.

"Uh, Lapis?" asks Alkasi, a little hesitant.
    "Yes?"
    "...Why are you, well."
"Uhm. I can, um, I can explain."
    "Okay."
"I was trying to, um. You know. Help."
"It's. Uhh. Okay. Yes. That sounds okay."
"I can stop. I'll stop. Yes? I mean, is that good?"
"Yes that's good. The stopping. The stopping is good, not the licking, but the licking is also good - because it's good because it means I might not die!"
"Yes I am trying to help you not die!"

Lapis licks Alkasi's wounds a little more to hammer home the point. He winces in pain and discomfort.
"Lapis, I just said it was okay for you to stop if you wanted!" says Alkasi in protest.
"But you're all bleeding and covered in blood and you'll die!"
"Once we find Ikioti I'll be fine!"
    "You're bleeding everywhere!"
"And you're covered in more scratches than anything I've ever seen!"

Alkasi hugs an unexpecting Lapis, who hugs him back.
"I don't want you to die, Alkasi," she mumbles, "You've saved my life twice already and you barely even know me!"
"You're a good person, Lapis. There aren't a lot of good people on Green Spikes."
"You're a good person, though, Alkasi!"
"Thanks. I'm kind of tired. I'm going to sleep for a bit. Look out for any more monsters for me, okay?"

Alkasi slowly closes his eyes. Lapis feels him relax and gently puts him back on the ground.

The wind picks up, and something meets her eyes a short distance away. Something shadowy and snakey, but not the shadowsnake from before. Something different. Something a little more purple.

"Ahhhhh, Lapiss. I am a ssalessman of conssiderable renown. For a price, I am willing to help you ssave thiss one'ss life. Care to lissten? My ratess are... generouss."
    "What? Who are you?"

"Ossiss. Masster ssalessman. I find those in need are... ssuitable clientss. Name what you are or will be willing to part wayss with, and I sshall assssisst you."

Hmm... How about some bodily fluids? Blood for blood. It's like giving to the red cross, but with more immediate benefit!

Re: A Lot of Tiny Worlds

Well, we don't have anything on us, but we always could perform a... service for him. Yes, I think you know what I mean. In exchange for saving your friend's life, he's going to get to make Alkasi and you perform... AN EPIC QUEST!

Maybe he would pay us if we went on some kind of expedition on his behalf and retrieved some kind of valuable artifact or something. We went out here to adventure, didn't we?

    Hmm...

    >Can you take some of your dignity from yourself in the future? Like, alter a future event so it'll be really embarrassing for you. Hm, one's probably not gonna do it, even if you never live it down, even if everybody remembers you for it. This is a life, after all.

Can you make it in small payments?
